    Consultant Pediatrician

    Job Summary

    • The Consultant Pediatrician is responsible for providing expert medical care to infants, children, and adolescents.
    • The role involves diagnosing and managing a wide range of pediatric conditions, supervising junior medical staff, and ensuring high standards of patient care in line with the hospital’s clinical protocols.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide specialist consultation, diagnosis, and treatment for pediatric patients (neonates to adolescents).
    • Manage both outpatient and inpatient pediatric cases effectively.
    • Conduct routine pediatric assessments, immunizations, and developmental monitoring.
    • Handle pediatric emergencies and provide timely interventions.
    • Supervise and mentor junior doctors, house officers, and nursing staff within the pediatric unit.
    • Participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, and case reviews.
    • Ensure proper documentation of patient records in line with hospital and regulatory standards.
    • Collaborate with other specialists to ensure holistic patient care.
    • Promote preventive healthcare and educate parents/guardians on child health and wellness.
    • Ensure adherence to infection control and patient safety protocols.
    • Participate in continuous medical education (CME), research, and quality improvement initiatives.

    • Patient outcomes and recovery rates
    • Patient satisfaction scores
    • Compliance with clinical protocols
    • Timeliness and accuracy of diagnosis and treatment
    • Contribution to team development and training.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
    • Fellowship qualification (FWACP, FMCPaed, or equivalent) in Pediatrics.
    • Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and a valid practicing license.
    • 5–10 years post-qualification experience, with relevant experience in pediatrics.
    • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Leadership and team management ability.
    • High level of professionalism and ethical practice.
