Health and Well Being Officer (School Nurse) at Howbury School Lagos

Job Summary

• We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Health & Well-being Officer who will also serve as the School Nurse.
• The successful candidate will provide first aid, manage student and staff health needs, support mental and physical well-being, and lead initiatives that promote a safe, healthy, and positive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff.
• Manage daily health concerns and assess students with illnesses or injuries.
• Administer prescribed medications in line with school policy.
• Monitor and manage chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes).
• Maintain accurate and confidential medical and health records.
• Plan and deliver health and well-being programs for students and staff.
• Organise health education campaigns on topics like nutrition, hygiene, and mental health.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and healthcare providers to support student welfare.
• Monitor health and safety compliance across the school.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Public Health, or a related field (additional certification in health education or counselling is an advantage).
• Minimum of 2 years’ nursing or school health experience.
• Registered Nurse (RN) or equivalent qualification.
• Valid nursing license/certification.
• Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work calmly and effectively in emergencies.
