JOB SUMMARY

The Head of Risk Management is responsible for planning and directing business analysis, risk modelling, and loss prevention programs. Oversees all aspects of an organization’s risk management function. The Head of Risk Management manages corporate functions with major organizational impact. Regularly evaluates risks faced by the organization and its overall risk profile with a particular focus on process control. Establishes overall direction and strategic initiatives for the given major function or line of business

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Exercise the leadership in collaboration within the business to execute vision and direction for risk management across the company ensuring the risk framework and function is proportionate to the scale and complexity of the activities undertaken by the company. 
• Manage continuous reviews of the entity’s risk management policy and framework to ensure it remains fit for purpose. 
• Deliver high level reporting on risk management to the Managing Director and the Board in executive management and governance committees.
• Lead a cohesive and collaborative stakeholders/team to ensure effective and efficient risk oversight and foster a high performing and engaged group of individuals. 
• Initiate development activities to enhance capability of the organization to harness opportunities through effective risk management readiness through communication and training programs, performance measurement and other change management programs. 
• Ensure that no actions are taken that will significantly impact SGC's risk profile or cause management to act outside the risk appetite and tolerance of SGC. 
• Lead the development of risk appetite framework (as per the Board’s stated risk tolerance). 
• Facilitate risk reviews and assessments for key initiatives or projects that cross multiple functions, or department, and may materially impact SGC.
• Assesses and communicates information regarding business risks with function across the organization.

JOB EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of Higher National Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or any related course.
• Master’s degree is an added advantage.
• Professional certification like CIA, ICAN, ACA, CISA or CPA is required.
• Proven minimum of 8-10years’ in internal auditing, preferably in the Agro trading and Export industry.
