    Head of Sales and Business Development Manager (Clean Cook Stoves)

    Job Summary: 

    We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and results-driven Head of Sales and Business Development Manager to lead the nationwide sales growth and business expansion efforts for the Save80 Clean Cook Stove project across Nigeria. In this senior role, you will:

    • Drive sales growth, revenue, and deliver on ambitious national targets.
    • Develop and execute new business models that expand our reach and market presence.
    • Build and manage strong relationships with customers, distributors, and partners that support large-scale adoption of clean cook stoves across Nigeria.
    • Identify new market opportunities and create strategies to capture them.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Sales Leadership and Strategy: 

    • Develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing strategies for Save80 stoves across northern states and the broader Nigerian market.
    • Set and achieve ambitious sales targets, continuously monitoring and optimizing performance.
    • Build, lead, manage, and motivate a high-performing sales team and agents, providing mentorship and guidance. 

    Business Development and Expansion: 

    • Spearhead the expansion of the Save80 cookstoves project throughout Nigeria.
    • Design and implement innovative business models, including partnerships with commercial banks, microfinance institutions, and cooperative groups. 
    • Identify and pursue new market opportunities, distributors, and strategic partnerships to accelerate nationwide adoption. 

    Partnership and Relationship Management: 

    • Build, nurture, and grow strong relationships with distributors, agents, institutions, and local sales partners and networks.
    • Lead negotiations and partnership agreements with key partners and stakeholders.
    • Collaborate closely with Production, Marketing, and Monitoring & Evaluation units to ensure alignment and operational efficiency.

    Operational Management: 

    • Provide hands-on leadership across field operations, including local warehouse setup, agent onboarding, and distribution channel development.
    • Oversee the movement, delivery, and availability of Save80 cookstoves across target markets.

    Financial Planning and Performance Management: 

    • Develop and manage the sales budget, forecasts, and financial plans.
    • Apply strong understanding of micro-credit mechanisms and cash-flow patterns within low-income markets. 
    • Ensure cost-effective distribution and sales operations.

    Market Intelligence and Strategy Refinement: 

    • Conduct and interpret market research to guide sales strategies and identify emerging trends.
    • Monitor competitor activities, pricing, and market behaviour. 
    • Use data analysis to optimize sales performance.

    Reporting and Analytics: 

    • Provide timely and detailed reports on sales performance, market activities, and strategic initiatives to senior management.
    • Utilize data analytics to drive informed decision-making and strategy refinement.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • A strong university degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field. An advanced degree is an advantage.
    • Minimum of 5 years of corporate B2B and B2C direct selling and distribution management and business development in related industries.
    • Proven track record in business development, especially within low-income or mass-market environments.
    • Demonstrated experience working with intermediaries and associations to expand market reach.
    • Practical experience with micro-credits and cash flow management.
    • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
    • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-management skills.
    • Analytical, data-driven thinker with proven strategic planning capability.
    • Ambitious and performance-driven personality with a passion for sales.
    • Willingness to relocate to Kano or any other assigned location for effective project leadership.
    • Deep motivation to contribute to the fight against climate change.
    • Business-fluent English is required. Proficiency in other local languages (e.g., Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, or Fulfulde) is a significant advantage.
