    Head of Risk Management

    JOB SUMMARY

    • The Head, Risk Management is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the enterprise-wide risk management framework for the organization and its subsidiaries. This role ensures the identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring of all risk exposures (market, credit, liquidity, operational, compliance, strategic, and reputational), while aligning risk practices with regulatory requirements and global best practices. The position plays a critical leadership role in safeguarding the organization’s financial stability and strategic objectives.

    ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS

    Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)

    • Develop and maintain the company’s Enterprise Risk Management framework, policies, and risk appetite statement.
    • Lead periodic risk assessments across all business units and subsidiaries to identify emerging risks.
    • Ensure effective risk measurement, evaluation, and reporting in line with industry standards and regulatory guidelines.

    Market, Credit & Liquidity Risk Oversight

    • Oversee the monitoring and management of market risks arising from trading activities, investment portfolios, and market volatility.
    • Establish robust credit risk assessment processes for counterparties and investment exposures.
    • Drive liquidity risk management strategies to maintain adequate liquidity buffers and financial resilience.

    Operational & Technology Risk

    • Implement systems and controls to identify and mitigate operational risks, including process failures, system breakdowns, fraud, and third-party risks.
    • Oversee technology and cybersecurity risk frameworks, ensuring strong controls around data protection and system integrity.

    Regulatory Compliance & Governance

    • Ensure full compliance with SEC, NSE/NGX, CBN (where applicable), FIRS, and other regulatory bodies governing capital market operations.
    • Interface with regulators on risk-related matters and lead the preparation of risk reports, stress tests, ICAAP, and other regulatory filings.
    • Support the Board Risk Committee with timely, accurate, and insightful risk analytics and reports.

    Strategic Risk Advisory

    • Partner with Executive Management to evaluate risk implications of strategic initiatives, new products, and business expansions.
    • Lead scenario analysis, stress testing, and capital adequacy planning to support strategic decision-making.
    • Foster a risk-aware culture across the Group, driving trainings and awareness programmes.

    EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, or related field
    • A Master’s degree is an advantage.
    • Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, CFA, ACCA, or ICAN are highly desirable.

    TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Strong understanding of capital market instruments, trading activities, investment products, and portfolio risk dynamics.
    • Expertise in quantitative risk modelling, data analytics, and risk management systems.
    • In-depth knowledge of risk management frameworks and internal control principles.
    • Understanding of financial services regulations and industry best practices.

    SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
    • High level of integrity, sound judgment, and strategic thinking.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to influence and drive risk culture across diverse teams.

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum 7 years’ experience in risk management.
