    Job Summary

    • The Head of Credit Administration owns the end-to-end integrity of the underwriting and credit administration function across Kolomoni's lending products.
    • The role sets and enforces underwriting standards, chairs or sits on the credit committee for higher-value exposures, owns portfolio quality outcomes, and ensures the Credit Admin function remains audit-ready and aligned with CBN MFB regulatory obligations as the bank progresses toward its national licence.

    Key Responsibilities
    Credit Policy & Underwriting Standards:

    • Own and maintain the credit approval memo checklist and underwriting standards across all lending product types
    • Set delegated authority limits for Junior and Senior Underwriters and review these periodically against portfolio performance
    • Approve or decline loans above Senior Underwriter delegated limits; chair or participate in the credit committee for high-value or high-risk exposures
    • Ensure underwriting practice keeps pace with new product launches (e.g., Kolomoni Capital Advance, KTAL/Babaloja) with appropriately calibrated, CBN-grounded policy numbers

    Risk, Compliance & Portfolio Oversight:

    • Ensure full compliance of the Credit Admin function with CBN MFB prudential guidelines, single obligor limits, KYC tiering, and AML/CFT obligations
    • Own portfolio-level exposure monitoring, obligor concentration limits, and early-warning escalation across the loan book
    • Direct investigation and resolution of fraud indicators or material policy breaches identified by underwriting staff
    • Serve as primary Credit Admin liaison for internal audit, internal control, and CBN regulatory examinations
    • Report portfolio quality, underwriting exceptions, and emerging risk themes to the Head of Credit and executive management

    Team Leadership & Process Management:

    • Manage, develop, and performance-appraise the Junior and Senior Underwriter team
    • Own underwriting turnaround time SLAs and drive process efficiency without compromising credit discipline
    • Establish and maintain credit file documentation standards, including collateral perfection requirements, across all branches and agency channels
    • Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, Sales, and Product teams to align documentation and disbursement conditions across the lending lifecycle
    • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and capability-building for the underwriting team

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking, or related field; postgraduate qualification or relevant professional certification (e.g., ACIB, credit risk certification) preferred
    • 8+ years' experience in credit underwriting/risk management, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role within microfinance, commercial banking, or fintech lending
    • Deep working knowledge of the CBN MFB regulatory framework, prudential guidelines, AML/CFT/NFIU obligations, and licensing requirements
    • Demonstrated experience building or scaling underwriting teams and credit policy frameworks
    • Strong stakeholder management skills across executive, audit, compliance, and regulatory interfaces
    • Excellent written and verbal communication for board- and executive-level reporting

    Key Competencies:

    • Strategic credit risk judgment balanced with commercial pragmatism
    • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development capability
    • Regulatory fluency and comfort engaging directly with examiners/auditors
    • Decisiveness under pressure, particularly around exceptions and escalations
    • Unwavering integrity and resistance to undue influence in lending decisions
