    Head of Credit Administration

    Job Summary

    • The Head of Credit Administration owns the end-to-end integrity of the underwriting and credit administration function across Kolomoni's lending products.
    • The role sets and enforces underwriting standards, chairs or sits on the credit committee for higher-value exposures, owns portfolio quality outcomes, and ensures the Credit Admin function remains audit-ready and aligned with CBN MFB regulatory obligations as the bank progresses toward its national licence.

    Key Responsibilities
    Credit Policy & Underwriting Standards:

    • Own and maintain the credit approval memo checklist and underwriting standards across all lending product types
    • Set delegated authority limits for Junior and Senior Underwriters and review these periodically against portfolio performance
    • Approve or decline loans above Senior Underwriter delegated limits; chair or participate in the credit committee for high-value or high-risk exposures
    • Ensure underwriting practice keeps pace with new product launches (e.g., Kolomoni Capital Advance, KTAL/Babaloja) with appropriately calibrated, CBN-grounded policy numbers

    Risk, Compliance & Portfolio Oversight:

    • Ensure full compliance of the Credit Admin function with CBN MFB prudential guidelines, single obligor limits, KYC tiering, and AML/CFT obligations
    • Own portfolio-level exposure monitoring, obligor concentration limits, and early-warning escalation across the loan book
    • Direct investigation and resolution of fraud indicators or material policy breaches identified by underwriting staff
    • Serve as primary Credit Admin liaison for internal audit, internal control, and CBN regulatory examinations
    • Report portfolio quality, underwriting exceptions, and emerging risk themes to the Head of Credit and executive management

    Team Leadership & Process Management:

    • Manage, develop, and performance-appraise the Junior and Senior Underwriter team
    • Own underwriting turnaround time SLAs and drive process efficiency without compromising credit discipline
    • Establish and maintain credit file documentation standards, including collateral perfection requirements, across all branches and agency channels
    • Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, Sales, and Product teams to align documentation and disbursement conditions across the lending lifecycle
    • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and capability-building for the underwriting team

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking, or related field; postgraduate qualification or relevant professional certification (e.g., ACIB, credit risk certification) preferred
    • 8+ years' experience in credit underwriting/risk management, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role within microfinance, commercial banking, or fintech lending
    • Deep working knowledge of the CBN MFB regulatory framework, prudential guidelines, AML/CFT/NFIU obligations, and licensing requirements
    • Demonstrated experience building or scaling underwriting teams and credit policy frameworks
    • Strong stakeholder management skills across executive, audit, compliance, and regulatory interfaces
    • Excellent written and verbal communication for board- and executive-level reporting

    Senior Credit Underwriter

    Job Summary

    • The Senior Credit Underwriter independently evaluates loan applications across all product lines, makes documented lending recommendations within delegated authority, and provides quality control over work produced by Junior Underwriters.
    • The role carries direct accountability for credit memo quality, regulatory compliance of underwriting decisions, and portfolio-level risk discipline within the Credit department.

    Key Responsibilities
    Underwriting & Credit Assessment:

    • Independently review and analyze loan applications across all product types  for creditworthiness
    • Conduct full financial analysis: cash flow assessment, debt service coverage ratio (DSCR), and repayment capacity
    • Interpret credit bureau reports and resolve discrepancies or adverse findings with applicants/Sales
    • Calculate and verify key ratios (DSCR, LDR exposure, single obligor limits) against policy thresholds, including KYC tier transaction limits
    • Prepare and finalize credit memos/appraisal reports with clear, well-reasoned recommendations for approval, decline, or referral
    • Review and approve/return work prepared by Junior Underwriters before escalation

    Risk & Compliance:

    • Ensure all loans under review comply with CBN MFB prudential guidelines, AML/CFT requirements, and internal credit policy
    • Identify and investigate red flags, inconsistencies, or fraud indicators; escalate confirmed concerns to the Head of Credit Admin and Compliance
    • Monitor obligor concentration and portfolio-level exposure limits for assigned segments
    • Recommend exceptions or policy deviations through proper approval channels with documented justification

    Documentation, Reporting & Mentorship:

    • Ensure collateral documentation (where applicable) is properly perfected and filed before disbursement approval
    • Confirm conditions precedent are fully met prior to recommending disbursement
    • Provide regular reports on underwriting turnaround time, approval/decline rates, and portfolio quality for assigned book
    • Mentor and review the work of Junior Underwriters, providing structured feedback on credit memo quality
    • Liaise with Legal/Compliance on documentation and perfection requirements
    • Support audits and regulatory examinations with documentation and explanation as required

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking, or related field; relevant credit/risk certification an advantage
    • 4–7 years' experience in credit analysis/underwriting, with at least 2 years in microfinance, retail banking, or fintech lending
    • Strong working knowledge of the CBN MFB regulatory framework, prudential guidelines, and AML/CFT requirements
    • Advanced Excel proficiency; experience with loan origination/core banking systems required
    • Demonstrated track record of sound credit judgment and low memo rejection/rework rate
    • Strong written communication skills for credit memo and appraisal report writing

    Junior Credit Underwriter

    Job Summary

    • The Junior Credit Underwriter supports the Credit department by performing first-level review of loan applications, compiling and verifying documentation, and conducting preliminary credit checks under the supervision of a Senior Underwriter.
    • The role is designed to build underwriting competence through structured exposure to lower-value, lower-complexity loan files, with all approval recommendations reviewed before escalation.

    Key Responsibilities
    Underwriting Support;

    • Conduct first-level review of loan applications  for completeness and basic eligibility
    • Verify KYC documentation against CBN KYC tiering requirements (Tier 1, 2, 3)
    • Pull and summarize credit bureau reports (CRC, FirstCentral, CreditRegistry) for senior review
    • Perform basic financial computations: income verification, simple cash flow summaries, repayment ratio calculations
    • Draft preliminary credit notes for Senior Underwriter review prior to memo finalization

    Documentation & Filing;

    • Maintain credit files in line with the document checklist for each loan product
    • Confirm collateral documents (where applicable) are present and follow up on outstanding items
    • Track disbursement conditions precedent and flag status to Senior Underwriter
    • Log application turnaround timestamps for reporting purposes

    Coordination;

    • Liaise with Sales/Relationship Officers to request missing information or clarify applications
    • Escalate any red flags, inconsistencies, or suspected fraud indicators immediately to the Senior Underwriter
    • Support audit and regulatory examination preparation by retrieving and organizing requested files

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree (HND / BSc) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking, or related field
    • 0–2 years' experience; fresh graduates with strong analytical aptitude considered
    • Basic understanding of credit principles and willingness to learn CBN MFB regulatory framework
    • Proficient in Excel; comfortable with basic financial calculations
    • High attention to detail and strong integrity in handling sensitive financial data
