This role will provide strategic leadership to the Legal Services Department as well as support business decision-making and risk management. The ideal candidate will ensure the delivery of high-quality, commercially focused legal counsel aligned with the Bank’s objectives, regulatory expectations, and governance standards.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic legal leadership and advisory support across all business units, ensuring informed decision-making and proactive risk mitigation.
Oversee the identification, assessment, and management of legal risks related to the Bank’s operations, products, services, and transactions.
Lead and manage the Bank’s litigation portfolio and interface with external legal counsel to ensure effective and cost-efficient legal representation.
Drive the development and implementation of legal frameworks, policies, and systems that support business objectives and regulatory compliance.
Coordinate legal support for high-value transactions, corporate expansion initiatives, and complex negotiations, including multi-jurisdictional matters.
Requirements
A first degree in Law and Professional Certificate of Barrister at Law.
Minimum of 15 years’ post-call experience in legal practice, with at least 10 years’ in a managerial position
Knowledge and experience working within the banking and financial services sectors, including commercial banks and financial institutions.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage and influence key internal and external stakeholders.
