To lead, develop, and implement a robust HSE management system that ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies.
The Head, HSE will oversee all HSE activities, promote a strong safety culture, and minimize risks to personnel, the environment, and the company's assets.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and strategic direction to the HSE team, ensuring alignment with the organization's overall objectives.
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HSE management systems, aligning with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Establish and manage an on-site mineral testing laboratory, including standard operating procedures and personnel management.
Develop and implement comprehensive waste management and waste-to-cash initiatives.
Design and execute land reclamation plans to restore mined areas to a stable and productive state.
Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and site inspections to identify potential safety and environmental hazards.
Lead HSE training programs, incident investigations, and emergency response planning.
Ensure compliance with all required HSE regulations and manage relationships with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders.
Foster a strong safety culture through proactive communication and leadership.
Investigate incidents and accidents, implement corrective and preventive actions, and ensure timely reporting.
Review and analyze reports from key functional HSE unit managers and provide comprehensive and data-driven reports, along with actionable insights and recommendations, to the Executive Management on a regular basis.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in HSE management roles in the mining industry.
Proven track record of success in developing and implementing HSE programs.
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices
