    Grant Officer

     

    This position will support Pact Nigeria in the management and administration of funds set aside for grants to other organizations.

    The Grant Officer works with the Finance team to ensure that Pact’s financial management, policies, and procedures and those of donors are adhered to at all times, safeguarding funds set aside specifically for the issuance of grants and ensuring that they are used in line with the purposes intended by the donors and that accurate financial records are maintained.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Work as part of a team to implement Pact Nigeria sub-grant activities in accordance with Pact’s Global policies and procedures, and to ensure funds set aside for further distribution in the form of grants to other organizations are used in line with the purposes intended by the donors.
    • Lead the administration of the full cycle of grants management activities beginning with pre-award assessments, monitoring/compliance visits and close-out procedures.
    • Develop grant award and award modification documents; develop negotiated memorandum of grant awards.
    • Respond to issues that arise during sub-grants, contract and associate award implementation.
    • Review monthly financial reports against sub-agreement budgets, program reports, and deliverables as well as supporting documentation to check for allowability, allocability, and reasonability.
    • Conduct site visits and document findings.
    • Work closely with Pact Nigeria finance and other staff members in the compilation of data and preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
    • Update and maintain grantees’ files.
    • Make timely follow-ups with Finance team for the disbursement of funds to the grantee for approved program activities.
    • Perform other functions assigned by the Finance Manager.

    Basic Requirements

    • Master's degree with five (5) years work experience or bachelor's degree with at least seven (7+) years work experience. Bachelor's degree/ HND and 7 years of experience.
    • ACA/ACCA/CPA Professional Accounting qualifications.
    • Knowledge of financial and accounting principles.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Computer literacy and familiarity with standard office computer applications.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Analytical and report presentation skills.
    • Strong training and capacity-building skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience assessing the responsibility and grant-worthiness of organizations through financial statements, audits and other documentation presented in a proposal or in support of an award.
    • Experience in international development project management and donor funds administration.
    • Experience with accounting standards/practices of international organization a strong plus.
