    Finance Officer

    Duty Station: Maiduguri
    Starting Date: To be announced
    Duration of Contract: 6 Months
    Reporting to: Executive Director/Finance Manager

    Role Purpose:

    The Finance Officer provides financial management support including budgeting, expense tracking, and financial reporting. The role holder assists in ensuring compliance with financial regulations and donor requirements. The officer will contribute 20% of their time to project implementation while maintaining organizational financial operations.

    Level 1 -- General commitment to safeguarding principles required.

    Scope of Role:

    Reports to: Executive Director/Finance Manager (if designated)
    Staff reporting to this post: Finance Assistant (if designated)

    Key Areas of Accountability:

    Financial Management and Budgeting

    • Assist in budget development and management
    • Track project expenditures and commitments
    • Prepare financial forecasts and analysis
    • Support budget reviews and adjustments

    Financial Reporting and Compliance

    • Maintain financial records and documentation
    • Process financial transactions and invoices
    • Prepare financial reports and statements
    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and donor requirements

    Procurement Support

    • Assist in procurement processes and documentation
    • Maintain procurement records
    • Verify invoices and supporting documentation
    • Support vendor management

    Fund Management

    • Track donor funds and allocations
    • Monitor fund utilization rates
    • Support fund reconciliation processes
    • Ensure appropriate fund documentation

    General:

    • Carry out any other finance-related duties as decided by the Executive Director
    • Comply with and promote all CFCI policies

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
    • 2+ years of experience in financial management or accounting
    • Fluency in verbal and written English and local languages

    Experience Required:

    • 2 to 5 years of experience in financial management or accounting in non-profit organizations
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial management
    • Experience with donor reporting and compliance requirements
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
    • Excellent organizational and attention to detail
    • Honesty and strong ethical practices
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to handle confidential financial information
    • Commitment to financial transparency and accountability
    • Valid Driving Licence
