Role Overview:
The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the firm’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial management. The role provides leadership across accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, tax compliance, and project-based financial oversight. The Finance Manager ensures the integrity of the firm’s financial systems and supports Executive Management with analysis for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic planning and commercial decisions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger and financial records.
Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with Nigerian tax and statutory obligations including PAYE, VAT, WHT, ITF, NSITF, and SCUML.
- Manage statutory filings and renewals in line with regulatory timelines.
- Liaise with external auditors, oversee audit preparation, and implement recommendations.
Financial Systems & Controls
- Maintain robust internal controls, financial procedures, and governance practices.
- Review and strengthen accounting systems and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, WorkPay) to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Ensure proper authorization and approval processes across disbursements and financial transactions.
Project Finance Oversight
- Partner with Engagement Managers to monitor project budgets, expenditures, and financial performance.
- Provide financial guidance on project costing, variances, compliance requirements, and client reporting.
- Ensure project-related financial documentation, analysis, and reporting are accurate and timely.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Manage the firm’s cash flow, bank relationships, payments, and liquidity planning.
- Oversee accounts payable/receivable and ensure timely settlement of obligations.
- Monitor working capital and recommend improvements.
Payroll & HR Collaboration
- Supervise payroll processing, benefits accruals, and statutory remittances.
- Collaborate with HR on workforce cost planning and payroll forecasting.
Leadership & Capacity Building
- Supervise and mentor finance team members, ensuring professional growth and performance.
- Promote best practices in financial management and build internal capacity across the firm.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional qualification required or strongly preferred: ICAN or ACCA.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience, including financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
- Experience in professional services, consulting, or project-based organizations is an advantage.
- Strong competency with accounting systems (QuickBooks, SAP) and MS Office suite (especially Excel).
