Location: Kaduna, Plateau, Benue, Katsina, Taraba, Zamfara, Ondo, Enugu, and Edo States (Applicants must be residents of the state for which they are applying)

Purpose of the Assignment
The Field Researcher will collect, verify, and report violent conflict incidents in their state of residence. This includes liaising with community stakeholders, attending key events, monitoring local news, and providing detailed, timely, and accurate reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and document violent conflict incidents in the assigned state.
- Collect primary data through interviews with key informants (community leaders, security agencies, local journalists, victims, and eyewitnesses).
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of data through designated reporting tools/platforms.
- Cross-verify and triangulate data with multiple sources to ensure credibility.
- Participate in periodic training, team meetings, and reviews.
- Adhere to the Do No Harm principle by ensuring informed consent, safeguarding confidentiality, and conducting all activities in a conflict-sensitive and culturally respectful.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Applicants must hold a higher education qualification (NCE, OND, HND, or B.Sc.).
- Resident of one of the target states: Kaduna, Plateau, Benue, Katsina, Taraba, Zamfara, Ondo, Enugu, and Edo States (state of residence must match state of application).
- Robust grassroots network with access to community leaders, security actors, CSOs, media, and peace committees.
- Membership or affiliation with reporting bodies (e.g., local civil society groups, community-based organisations, peace networks, or journalist associations).
- Previous experience in field research, data collection, or community engagement (preferably related to peacebuilding, security, or development).
- Strong familiarity with the local conflict context, stakeholders, and terrain.
- Fluency in English and relevant local languages spoken in the state.
- Ability to use smartphones or tablets for data entry and reporting.
- Strong ethical standards and respect for local cultural norms.

Deliverables
- Verified incident reports submitted daily/weekly/monthly.
- Key informant interview summaries (where necessary).
- Regular conflict trend summaries and hotspot updates.
- Attendance and contributions to all required virtual or physical trainings/briefings.
