    Executive Director

    Job Summary

    • The Executive Director will research, write, and manage grant proposals to secure funding for our newspaper's editorial projects, investigative journalism initiatives, and community outreach programs.
    • The successful candidate will have a proven track record of securing grants, excellent writing and communication skills, and a passion for journalism.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Research and identify potential funding sources: Research foundations, corporations, and government agencies that provide grants for journalism and media-related projects.
    • Develop and write grant proposals: Write clear, concise, and compelling grant proposals that align with the newspaper's editorial goals and funding priorities.
    • Manage grant applications and reporting: Coordinate the grant application process, ensure timely submission of proposals, and manage reporting requirements for funded grants.
    • Build relationships with funders and stakeholders: Develop and maintain relationships with funders, stakeholders, and community partners to secure funding and support for our newspaper's initiatives.
    • Collaborate with editorial team: Work closely with the editorial team to develop grant proposals that align with the newspaper's editorial goals and priorities.
    • Track and analyze grant-related data: Monitor and analyze grant-related data, including funding trends, application success rates, and grant expenditures.
    • Ensure compliance with grant regulations: Ensure that all grant-related activities comply with relevant regulations, laws, and funding agency requirements.

    Requirements

    • Experienced: Minimum 3 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, programmes management or a related field.
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field.

    Skills:

    • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proven track record of securing grants from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
    • Ability to research and analyze funding opportunities and trends.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

    Knowledge:

    • Familiarity with the journalism and philanthropy industry, grant writing best practices, and funding agency requirements.
