The Electrician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment to ensure safe and reliable rig operations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain electrical systems, equipment, panels, motors, generators, and control systems.
Conduct preventive and corrective electrical maintenance.
Diagnose electrical faults and carry out repairs.
Test electrical equipment and circuits.
Inspect cables, switches, lighting systems, distribution boards, and electrical installations.
Assist with installation and commissioning of electrical equipment.
Maintain electrical tools and test instruments.
Ensure electrical work complies with approved procedures and standards.
Maintain accurate maintenance records.
Participate in electrical isolation and Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures.
Report electrical hazards and equipment defects.
Comply with HSE and electrical safety requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum of OND/NABTEB/Trade Test in Electrical Engineering or related field.
3–5 years relevant electrical maintenance experience, preferably on drilling rigs, offshore vessels, or oil & gas facilities.
Experience with generators, motors, switchboards, control panels, lighting, and electrical distribution systems.
Knowledge of electrical safety, isolation, and Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.
Relevant electrical certification/licence is an advantage.
Valid offshore safety certification and medical fitness where applicable.
