    Drilling Superintendent

    Job & Main Specifications (Education/Knowledge, Skills, Attributes, Experience & Other Required Details)

    • Must be a professional engineer with a degree or qualification in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
    • Must have a minimum of 15 years of experience in Drilling and Completion Operations or Engineering, in Nigeria, with exposure to contractors. Ideally in a position of Drilling Superintendent or Operations Drilling Engineer.
    • Must have good communication and writing skills, with PC fluency.
    • Must be proficient in English, both in speech and in writing.
    • Must have a deep knowledge of local drilling market and practices in Nigeria.
    • Must be able to work autonomously and take initiatives when required.
    • Must be willing to provide on-call 24/7 hour coverage during operations.
    • Duties & Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to
    • Responsible for rig market survey, rig performance and track-record evaluation, on site visits to evaluate rigs available on the domestic market.
    • Be part of the contractor selection for drilling and completion. Assist in the preparation of tenders, bid evaluation, award of contracts of all drilling and completion related services. Conduct operational analysis and write up reports in relation with various tendering processes.
    • In charge of interactions with local vendors involved in the drilling campaign or with international vendors when they operate in Nigeria.
    • Liaises with contractors to ensure that high quality services and equipment are provided in accordance with contracts.
    • Liaises with Nigerian authorities to support submitting well-related notifications and obtaining permits relating to drilling operations.
    • Schedule and co-ordinate all resources during the drilling preparation phase, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure that drilling operations are adequately supported and that projects stay within budget..
    • Responsible for delivery follow-up of long-lead items purchased (inventory, quality and conformity check, monitoring of adequate storage).
    • Organizes the logistics/expedites materials and equipment to the rig.
    • Ensure that the site preparation is done in accordance with the objectives set and the Company approved operational practices and procedures.
    • Oversee quality control measures to ensure that the drilling process meets quality and performance standards.
    • Troubleshoot complex challenges during drilling operations. Quickly identify and address issues to prevent delays and ensure project success.
    • Maintain detailed records of drilling activities, safety protocols, and performance metrics.
    • Implement safety and environmental policies at the early phase of drilling project.
    • Monitor the HSE, operational, commercial and technical performance of the rig and contractors under his control measure the quality of the products and services and formulate routes for improvement.
    • Observe all Company HSE instructions, act in a safe manner and avoid unnecessary risks to themselves and others.
    • Immediately report any unsafe conditions or activities and dangerous occurrences.
