    Drill Rig Mechanic

    Responsible for supervising and coordinating daily drilling and mining operations to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous quarry production. The role oversees quarry bench leveling, development of new limestone quarry areas using Epiroc drill rigs, and regular monitoring of operators to ensure compliance with safety standards and minimize risks in remote quarry locations.

    What you'll be doing 

    • Understand and comply with HSE policies. Actively support key safety initiatives in the plant and support the department as needed to improve HSE performance and results
    • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas
    • Ensures safe working conditions and good safe practices are applied at work.
    • Organize and execute drilling operation work site to insure work is carried in a green, safe and injury free environment. Give precise instructions and committed with it and his subordinates to avoid any confusion about work
    • Create middle chain point between technicians and team leader and back up of in case of absence 
    • Execute and implement drilling operations, and assign each drilling technician for his daily work
    • Report the shutdown reasons and drilling operation production to the drilling & blasting Team Leader
    • Reporting with the technicians the drilling log which effect on the explosives charging in the drilling holes
    • Complete first inspection with the technicians and operators for all equipment daily, cascading any breakdowns and its effect on the operation  
    • Follow up on equipment breakdowns with the workshop team 
    • Communicate with the operations team on planned blasts and its readiness
    • Communicate with the drilling and mining operators on evacuation of the quarry during the blasting process

    Requirements

    • OND /Technical Education or equivalent in Mechanical or other related field with at least 4 years’ experience in the Cement or similar industry
    • Minimum of 4-5 years’ post-qualification experience.
    • Good knowledge of RCA methodology and facilitating skills.
    • Strong spoken & written communication skills
    • Machine Main System knowledge
    • Working knowledge of cement manufacturing process.
    • Working knowledge of equipment operation procedure.
    • Able to take initiative based on sound problem solving skills
    • Solid knowledge of drilling machines operation.
