Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the MRH’s mission and growth objectives.
Advise the Executive Director and Board of Directors on financial planning, sustainability, and risk management.
Lead financial forecasting, scenario planning, and long-term budgeting.
Oversee accounting, budgeting, auditing, and financial reporting in compliance with local and international regulations (e.g., IFRS, donor requirements).
Ensure adherence to grant restrictions and donor reporting requirements.
Manage cash flow, investments, and reserves to optimise financial health.
Work with programme teams to develop budgets for grant proposals and ensure proper fund allocation.
Monitor restricted and unrestricted funds, ensuring compliance with donor agreements.
Liaise with donors and auditors for financial reviews and reporting.
Establish and enforce robust internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
Ensure insurance, legal, and tax compliance across operating countries.
Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and transparency.
Collaborate with programme teams to align financial planning with project needs.
Represent the NGO in financial discussions with partners, donors, and government agencies.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a relevant certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) is preferred.
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a senior financial leadership role, ideally within the nonprofit , NGO or health sector.
Proven track record of managing complex budgets, financial reporting, and compliance, especially within the context of international programmes.
Experience with grant management and knowledge of donor compliance standards is required.
Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance standards.
Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data for strategic decision-making.
Strong leadership and team management abilities with a focus on capacity building and professional development.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including senior leadership, programme staff, donors, and external auditors.
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
