As our CDD Team Leader, you will be a part of the AML function within the Legal & Compliance department. The role will manage the day to day activities of a team of CDD Officers and working closely with the wider AML teams in the business. You will provide an escalation point for complex and higher risk cases through risk assessment, completing & reviewing enhanced due diligence risk assessments, customer interactions, and review of supporting documentation, such as proof of income/source of wealth documents.
You will work closely with the AML Manager to embed the department's strategy, and identify opportunities for improvement in the business's approach. Reporting to the AML Manager, you will work closely to drive improvements and support in building knowledge of AML across the business.
What You Will Be Doing:
Support management and business areas in the execution of their responsibilities to manage compliance and regulatory risk in terms of AML & CTF
Support the sustained improvement of the AML department
Ensure the team under your control complies with the policies and standards in an operationally efficient way
Allocate and track all work across the team to ensure all colleagues are conducting the required work
Undertake regular process reviews and check team members have a full understanding of the requirements contained in procedures
Handling complex case reviews that may arise from customer queries and complaints escalated from the CDD Officers
Lead training and coaching with the teams
Ensure the team is fully resourced and equipped to handle workflow at all times
Act as a point of escalation for the Officers for any queries relating to the work flow, process and procedures and any risks and issues that have been identified
Conduct performance reviews and provide regular timely feedback on performance
Provide relevant, accurate and timely MI in a format which is clear and engaging
Supporting the AML Manager with the delivery of the AML strategy and on ad-hoc projects to support the wider business
Develop and maintain knowledge of the current regulatory requirements appropriate to the jurisdictions which KingMakers operates within.
What You Need for This Role:
2-5 years' experience working in an AML focused role, preferably in a regulated sector such as banking or gaming
1-3 years' experience as a team leader or similar role
Experience of contributing to the development of AML frameworks
Proven experience in a customer facing environment with the ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills
A confident and professional telephone manner with the ability to manage difficult conversations with customers and internal stakeholders
The ability to work proactively and independently whilst prioritizing and managing your own workload
The ability to succinctly assess risk and prioritize work accordingly
Computer literacy and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Previous experience or a qualification in AML is preferable but as a minimum you will have awareness and good understanding of the AML framework in Nigeria.
