Child Safeguarding

• Level 3.  The responsibilities of this post may require the post holder to have regular contact with children and young people.
• As part of these responsibilities the post holder will support the establishment of child safeguarding systems, promote a culture of keeping children safe, and ensure that potential harm to children (by our own staff and/or as a result of how we do our work) is identified and addressed on an ongoing basis. 
• The post holder should report and respond to interventions as determined by position related responsibilities identified in the Child Safeguarding Policy.

Role

• To Support the construction coordinator in planning, prioritizing and implementing diverse construction tasks and ensures a successful outcome in terms of quality, compliance, time frame, and budget, while adhering strictly to SCI rules and regulations.
• Plans and conducts procurement in collaboration with the supply chain unit. Participating in functional aspects of construction-related activities, in design and supervision and contributing to reports.

Main Responsibilities

• Support to the construction coordinator in maintaining and monitoring project plans, project schedules, construction works, budgets and expenditures
• Support to the construction coordinator in ensuring all necessary plans, specs, permissions, and contracts are in place prior to commencement of construction activities
• Quality control and follow up of procurement measures.
• Preparation and participation at official contractual steps of infrastructure measure implementation (site handing over; taking over and official handing over).
• Participation in regular meetings with stakeholders and other units.
• Support programmes in identification and site assessments.
• Support in the supervision of construction contractors and conduction of spot checks on-site to assure quality control.
• Contribution to regular reporting of the infrastructure component
• Technical drafting/design of structures and review of technical design documents.
• Performance of additional duties and tasks at the request of the Construction Coordinator.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, or Registered Architecture from a recognized University/Institution.

Professional experience:

• At least 2 years post NYSC general work experience in the field of construction and/or drilling.
• Experience working in international organizations or INGOs.
• Experience in evaluating and supervising construction works (building, civil/ renovation works and/or drilling).
• Experience in tender and procurement management; establishing of Terms of reference and/or Bill of Quantities.
• Experience in the design and realization of solar-powered boreholes.
• Experience in the assessment of existing buildings for rehabilitation needs.

• Experience of working in the North-East Nigeria and context is highly desirable
