    Conflict and Peacebuilding Coordinator

    Location: Based in Maiduguri, covering both Konduga and Bama LGAs 

    Duration: October to December 2025 with subject to extension based on performance

    Job Purpose

    The Conflict and Peacebuilding Coordinator will lead efforts aimed at strengthening governance capacities for local government institutions with the overall objective of improving their ability to prevent, manage and promote peaceful conflict resolution. The coordinator will also work on setting up and strengthening community feedback mechanisms and ensuring all programme activities are gender responsive. The successful candidate will facilitate dialogue among stakeholders and lead the implementation of peacebuilding initiatives in Konduga and Bama.  The role involves designing and managing programs that foster social cohesion and sustainable peace to ensure the delivery of high-impact, integrated programming. Under the direct supervision of the Gender, Protection and Inclusion Unit. The coordinator will also support with provision of technical guidance to the field teams to ensure alignment with donor expectations and best practices.

    Community Engagement

    • Lead the development, planning, and execution of the social cohesion components of the WFP-funded project, in close collaboration with the WFP Gender, Protection and Inclusion Unit.
    • Ensure field-level implementation of project activities is timely, integrated, and aligned with community needs and donor expectations.
    • Maintain regular engagement with other WFP cooperating partners for effective collaboration and project synergy.
    • Facilitate strong coordination and cooperation with the staff to ensure all WFP and UNICEF programs under the BMZ are Gender, protection and conflict sensitive and responsive to vulnerable populations.
    • Design and implement conflict resolution and peacebuilding programs tailored to WFP project objectives.
    • Ensure project activities adhere to donor policies, humanitarian standards, and WFP guidelines.
    • Regularly monitor program implementation for quality, effectiveness, and efficiency, recommending adjustments as necessary.
    • Oversee the development of tactical and operational plans to support program objectives and community cohesion.
    • Representation in coordination meetings, technical working groups, and forums at the local, state and national levels.
    • Identify and pursue strategic opportunities for advocacy and partnerships that enhance program impact and visibility.
    • Ensure the implementation of ICARA findings and recommendations.
    • Conduct regular program reviews to assess progress, capture lessons learned and adapt strategies in line with results-based management principles.
    • Analyse potential sources of community tensions and make recommendations for targeted interventions, ensuring support reaches the most vulnerable groups.
    • Prepare and submit high-quality project monthly reports, success stories, publications, and other documentation as required by WFP.
    • Promote active community participation in all phases of the project cycle—from planning to implementation and evaluation.
    • Ensure community voices are integrated into program design and delivery to foster social cohesion and local ownership.
    • Organize community forums and events focused on conflict resolution and peace promotion.

    Team Support and Capacity Building

    Stakeholder Engagement

    • Provide technical support and guidance to team members to ensure high-quality project delivery.
    • Support organizational fundraising efforts by contributing to proposal development and donor engagement for humanitarian programming.
    • Ensure community feedback mechanisms are established, accessible and fully operationalized in all active areas of intervention. 
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, government agencies, NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate dialogue and collaboration.

    Training and Capacity Building

    • Develop and deliver training workshops on conflict resolution, negotiation, and peacebuilding skills for staff and community members.
    • Create educational materials and resources to promote understanding of conflict dynamics and peace processes.

    Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse:

    • DHCBI actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within DHCBI and amongst beneficiaries.
