    Commercial Associate (Carbon Markets & Offtake)

    Location: Lagos

    Job Descriptions

    • We are seeking a commercially minded and highly organised Commercial Associate to support the execution and day-to-day management of Vectar’s corporate buyer and carbon offtake pipeline.
    • The Commercial Associate will coordinate the progression of opportunities from qualified lead through buyer engagement, diligence, commercial documentation and transaction preparation.
    • The role will ensure that every active opportunity is properly researched, documented, followed up and progressed in accordance with the commercial strategy established by the Chief Commercial Officer who will retain responsibility for commercial strategy, buyer prioritisation, senior buyer relationships, pricing decisions, transaction structuring and final deal closure.
    • The Commercial Associate will provide the preparation, coordination, information and disciplined follow-through required to support those outcomes.
    • This is a commercial execution role for someone who can manage complex processes, communicate confidently with institutional stakeholders and ensure that high-intent opportunities are not lost through inadequate preparation or inconsistent follow-up.
    • The role is particularly suited to someone who understands how complex commercial opportunities progress and who can provide the structure, analysis and follow-through required to support senior dealmakers.
    • The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong commercial awareness, excellent organisation and attention to detail, disciplined and persistent follow-through, strong written and verbal communication, confidence interacting with corporate and institutional stakeholders, the ability to prepare clear meeting briefs, proposals and commercial summaries, strong research and analytical capability, the ability to manage multiple active opportunities simultaneously, comfort working with pricing, volumes, timelines and revenue information, good judgement regarding when an issue should be escalated, experience using CRM, pipeline management or project management systems, the ability to operate independently within an early stage company, discretion when handling commercially sensitive information, curiosity about carbon markets, climate finance and renewable energy and a strong sense of ownership, accountability and urgency.
    • The role will support a global commercial pipeline, with a particular focus on corporate buyers and partners in the United Kingdom, Europe and other relevant international markets. The successful candidate must be comfortable operating in a global B2B environment and working across different regions and time zones.
    • The role may require travel to the United Kingdom and internationally for selected buyer meetings, industry events and commercial engagements.

    Responsibilities
    Commercial pipeline coordination:

    • Maintain an accurate and current commercial pipeline covering qualified leads, active buyer conversations, diligence processes, commercial proposals, Letters of Intent and Forward Purchase Agreement discussions.
    • Record each opportunity’s stage, estimated value, buyer requirements, decision makers, next action, responsible person and anticipated timeline.
    • Track progress against the commercial stages and qualification criteria established by the CCO.
    • Ensure that agreed actions are completed and that no high-priority opportunity is lost through weak follow-through.
    • Identify stalled opportunities and escalate them to the CCO for strategic intervention.
    • Prepare weekly pipeline summaries and action trackers for the CCO and leadership team.
    • Maintain visibility of anticipated credit volumes, buyer interest, delivery periods and probability-weighted opportunities.
    • Support the CCO in preparing pipeline and commercial updates for management, investors and the board.

    Buyer research and qualification:

    • Research prospective corporate buyers, carbon procurement teams, intermediaries, brokers, climate-finance institutions and strategic partners.
    • Identify relevant sustainability, procurement, finance and commercial decision-makers within target organisations.
    • Prepare buyer profiles covering the organisation’s climate commitments, procurement history, preferred project types and potential alignment with ecoWise.
    • Gather information on each buyer’s likely budget, procurement timeline, internal approval process, claims requirements and quality expectations.
    • Conduct preliminary qualification of prospects using criteria approved by the CCO.
    • Prepare recommendations on whether opportunities should be progressed, deprioritised or escalated.
    • Maintain an organised database of buyer contacts, requirements and engagement history.

    Buyer engagement and support:

    • Manage routine buyer communications
    • Prepare briefing notes, agendas, presentations and supporting materials for buyer meetings.
    • Participate in buyer meetings alongside the CCO, founder or other senior team members.
    • Clearly explain approved elements of the ecoWise proposition, portfolio and commercial process.
    • Capture buyer objectives, questions, concerns, procurement requirements and agreed next steps.
    • Draft meeting follow-ups and commercial correspondence for review where appropriate.
    • Coordinate subsequent technical, diligence and commercial meetings.
    • Ensure that buyer communications remain accurate, consistent and aligned with Vectar’s approved market positioning.
    • Build credibility through professional communication, strong preparation and timely follow-through.

    Opportunity and deal progression:

    • Coordinate the progression of opportunities from qualified buyer engagement through diligence, commercial alignment and transaction documentation.
    • Prepare the information required for discussions on indicative volumes, expected delivery periods, issuance timelines and commercial structures.
    • Track buyer feedback on pricing, volume, payment structure, delivery expectations and contractual requirements.
    • Coordinate internal responses across Vectar’s commercial, technical, carbon, legal and programme teams.
    • Maintain an action plan for every priority opportunity.
    • Ensure that requested information and documents are provided within agreed timelines.
    • Prepare opportunity summaries and recommendations for CCO review.
    • Support the preparation of draft proposals, Letters of Intent, term sheets and Forward Purchase Agreement documents.
    • Maintain version control and ensure that agreed commercial changes are accurately recorded.
    • Escalate pricing requests, contractual risks, delivery concerns and negotiation points to the CCO.

    Buyer due diligence:

    • Coordinate buyer due-diligence processes and maintain a comprehensive tracker of requests, responses, outstanding actions and deadlines.
    • Organise commercial, technical, project and carbon-market information within the buyer data room.
    • Coordinate internal subject matter experts to respond to buyer questions.
    • Verify that responses have been reviewed by the appropriate internal owner before being shared externally.
    • Support the preparation and maintenance of:
      • corporate and project presentations;
      • portfolio summaries;
      • methodology information;
      • validation and issuance updates;
      • buyer FAQs;
      • project risk summaries;
      • delivery schedules;
      • claims and integrity materials;
      • commercial proposals;
      • diligence checklists; and
      • transaction documentation.
    • Maintain a clear record of information shared with each buyer.
    • Ensure that commercial representations do not exceed Vectar’s validated delivery capability or current issuance status.

    Commercial documentation and process support:

    • Help document and operate the commercial processes designed and approved by the CCO.
    • Maintain templates for buyer qualification, meeting preparation, follow-up, diligence tracking and opportunity reporting.
    • Support the preparation of buyer facing proposals, indicative commercial summaries, term sheets, LOIs and FPA working documents.
    • Incorporate approved commercial terms into relevant documentation.
    • Maintain organised records of buyer communications, proposals and transaction documents.
    • Capture lessons from buyer discussions and recommend process improvements to the CCO.
    • Support the standardisation of Vectar’s commercial documentation as the buyer pipeline grows.
    • Ensure that commercial materials are consistently updated and internally approved.

    Market intelligence:

    • Monitor relevant carbon market developments, buyer demand, pricing information and comparable transactions.
    • Track corporate climate commitments and identify organisations with potential demand for high-integrity carbon credits.
    • Research buyer preferences relating to geography, methodology, project type, vintage, social impact, claims and delivery structure.
    • Maintain a database of market intelligence and buyer requirements.
    • Prepare concise research summaries for the CCO ahead of commercial discussions.
    • Support pricing analysis by gathering relevant market evidence and comparable information.
    • Monitor developments relating to distributed renewable energy, energy access and generator displacement projects.
    • Identify relevant conferences, procurement opportunities, buyer programmes and industry events.

    Internal coordination:

    • Coordinate commercial actions across the CCO, founder, technical team, carbon team, legal advisers and programme team.
    • Ensure that buyer commitments and information requests are communicated to the appropriate internal owners.
    • Maintain a central tracker of commercial actions, deadlines and dependencies.
    • Support the preparation of internal deal-review meetings.
    • Escalate risks, delays and inconsistencies promptly.
    • Ensure that commercial timelines remain aligned with validation, verification, issuance and portfolio-onboarding activities.
    • Provide the CCO with the information required to make timely commercial decisions.

    Requirements

    • Candidates are likely to have approximately 2-5 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following areas:
      • B2B or enterprise sales support,  business development, corporate partnerships. transaction or deal coordination, infrastructure, project finance or investment advisory, commercial or strategy consulting, energy, commodities or market intelligence, climate finance or carbon markets, sustainability or ESG-related services or other technically complex markets involving corporate or institutional buyers.
      • Direct carbon market experience is preferred but not essential.
