    Business Development Officer (FMCG)

    Role Overview

    • The Business Development Officer is responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and developing strategic partnerships with key FMCG beverage companies, including International Breweries, Nigerian Breweries, and Guinness Nigeria.
    • The role involves identifying business opportunities, executing sales strategies, and strengthening distribution channels.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute strategic sales plans targeting key accounts within the beverage sector.
    • Identify new market opportunities and partnerships to drive revenue growth.
    • Create tailored business proposals and value propositions for each brewery client.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with decision-makers in International Breweries, Nigerian Breweries, and Guinness Nigeria.
    • Serve as the primary liaison between the company and key clients.
    • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements.
    • Achieve and exceed sales targets and revenue goals.
    • Drive product penetration and visibility across distribution channels.
    • Monitor competitor activities and adjust strategies accordingly.
    • Conduct market research to identify trends, pricing dynamics, and consumer behavior.
    • Analyze sales data and prepare performance reports for management.
    • Provide insights to improve product positioning and market share.
    • Expand and optimize distribution networks (retail, wholesale, on-trade, off-trade).
    • Ensure product availability and visibility in key outlets.
    • Work closely with logistics and supply chain teams to ensure efficient delivery.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

    • Monthly/Quarterly Revenue Growth (25% month on month)
    • Achievement of Sales Targets (15%)
    • Volume Growth (Cases sold – To sell 2 trucks of IBPLC, NBPLC, Guinness and Lafarge cement monthly.)
    • Revenue contribution from each key account (IBPLC, NBPLC, Guinness)
    • Client retention rate (%)
    • Number of new contracts/agreements secured
    • Number of new distribution outlets opened
    • Geographic market coverage (25% month on month)
    • Market share growth within assigned territory
    • Number of client visits/meetings per month
    • Customer satisfaction score
    • Response time to client requests
    • Order fulfillment rate (50-90%)
    • Stock availability rate (100%)
    • Reduction in delivery lead time
    • Timeliness and accuracy of reports
    • Quality of market intelligence provided
    • Actionable recommendations implemented

    Benchmarks:

    • Achieve 15–25% revenue growth annually
    • Increase distribution footprint by 20% within 12 months
    • Maintain ≥90% client retention rate

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, Marketing, or related field.
    • 3–5 years’ experience in FMCG sales or business development (preferably beverages/alcohol).
    • Strong network within the Nigerian beverage industry is an advantage.
    • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
