Business Development Manager at Ascentech Services Limited

Job Summary

• We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager to lead business growth, sales development, and market expansion within the construction products industry.
• The ideal candidate will have 5–7+ years of relevant experience in waterproofing, construction chemicals, building materials, concrete products, adhesives, sealants, or closely related construction products.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing relationships with key stakeholders, managing major accounts, driving sales revenue, and expanding the company's market presence across Lagos and other relevant markets.

Responsibilities
Business Development & Market Expansion:

• Develop and implement business development strategies to increase revenue and market share.
• Identify new markets, customers, projects, and commercial opportunities within the construction industry.
• Research market trends, competitor activities, pricing, and customer requirements.
• Develop strategies for entering new markets and expanding the company's customer base.
• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients and projects.

Sales & Revenue Growth:

• Drive sales of waterproofing products, construction chemicals, adhesives, sealants, concrete products, building materials, and related solutions.
• Develop and execute sales plans in line with company revenue targets.
• Prepare commercial proposals, quotations, tenders, and business presentations.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and commercial agreements with clients.
• Monitor sales performance and provide regular reports on revenue, pipeline, and business development activities.

Client & Stakeholder Management:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, contractors, developers, architects, consultants, distributors, and other industry stakeholders.
• Identify decision-makers and key influencers within target organizations.
• Conduct regular client visits and meetings to understand project requirements and identify opportunities.
• Manage key accounts and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
• Develop long-term relationships with major contractors and construction companies.

Project & Specification Sales:

• Identify upcoming construction and infrastructure projects where the company's products can be specified or supplied.
• Engage with architects, consultants, engineers, quantity surveyors, contractors, and developers to promote product specifications.
• Track projects from the initial specification stage through procurement and completion.
• Ensure the company's products are considered and specified for relevant construction projects.
• Develop relationships with project owners and procurement teams to secure supply contracts.

Distribution & Channel Development:

• Identify and develop relationships with distributors, dealers, retailers, and construction-material outlets.
• Develop effective channel strategies to increase product availability and market penetration.
• Monitor distributor performance and support partners with product knowledge, sales strategies, and technical information.
• Identify opportunities to expand the company's distribution network across Lagos and other strategic locations.

Product & Technical Knowledge:

• Maintain strong knowledge of the company's product portfolio, applications, technical specifications, and competitive advantages.
• Understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate product solutions.
• Work closely with technical and operations teams to provide appropriate solutions to clients.
• Participate in product demonstrations, technical presentations, site visits, and customer training where required.

Market Intelligence:

• Monitor competitor products, pricing, market positioning, and promotional activities.
• Gather market intelligence and provide recommendations to management.
• Identify emerging construction trends and opportunities that may support business growth.
• Provide feedback to management on customer needs and potential new products.

Reporting & Performance Management:

• Maintain accurate records of leads, prospects, opportunities, projects, and sales activities.
• Prepare weekly and monthly business development reports.
• Track sales targets, conversion rates, revenue, and pipeline performance.
• Provide regular updates to management on market developments and business opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Construction Management, Building Technology, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
• 5–7+ years of relevant business development or sales experience within the construction products industry.
• Proven experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Waterproofing products
• Construction chemicals
• Building materials
• Concrete products
• Adhesives
• Sealants
• Construction solutions
• Related construction/industrial products
