    Business Development Consultant

    Job Summary

    • To acquire and manage new and old client relationships with the necessity to diversify our clientele; Carry out B2B sales; negotiating contracts and closing deals; conduct market research and develop a strategic business development plan.
    • To create innovative strategies around growing the company’s sales targets while contributing towards achieving the overall corporate objective of the organization.

    Description of Job Duties

    • Facilitate expanding our client pool by developing proposals/EOIs across market segments donor, private sector and MDAs
    • Provide business intelligence as per on-going and prospective projects in power and energy sector
    • Cultivate strong working relationship with potential clients, while maintaining existing client relationship working closely with the Program Management office (PMO)
    • The Business Development Officer will work on the organization's business efforts in Nigeria and in Africa through a mix of regular and on-demand tasks
    • Lead on writing winning business proposals (technical and financial) as well as supervising tender/RFP responses and attend possible clarification meetings, including support management of Country Portfolio and setting financial targets
    • Support management in the formulation, implementation and execution of sales-growth strategy
    • Advise the organization on innovative expansion plans
    • Develop and recommend short-term and long-term strategies for business expansion through identifying new business in Nigeria
    • Proactively track and engage with market segments to identify business opportunities and conduct background/contextual research and analysis on relevance of proposal/business opportunities
    • Cultivate strong relationships with potential clients, while maintaining existing client relationships
    • Other duties as specified by your line manager.

    Job Requirements

    • Advanced Degree (Ph.D, MBA or M.Sc) in Engineering, Economics, Business Computing, Energy Law, Energy Finance, or any relevant field
    • 8+ years of robust experience working with the Power and energy Industry
    • 5 -10 years experience in Sales & Business Development within the Power and energy sector
    • Proven track record in writing and producing winning bids and proposals for institutional donors, corporates / private sector and others
    • 5+ years of leadership experience with demonstrable skills and success
    • Significant industry commercial and business development experience including use of Customer Relations Management (CRM tools), Bid evaluation and tracker tools, access to bilateral/multilateral development business portals
    • Excellent writing/editing, reporting, budget development and presentation/communication skills
    • Experience in coordinating development of large-scale or strategic proposals, including the development of multi-million-dollar project budgets.
