Our client is a Multinational from the Sales and Retail industry is looking to recruit experienced persons for the position of an Assistant Store/fresh foods manager
Purpose: Assists in the management of processes and procedures to ensure store operational standards are followed and observed. To ensure that operating standards, hygiene and safety regulations within Fresh departments are managed well in order to maximize gross margins and profits.
Key Responsibilities.
Merchandising Management
Main tasks:
- Monitors adherence to merchandise/display standards
- Conducts daily mule train and responds appropriately to issues that may arise
- Ensures that regular quality checks are conducted on merchandise
- Manages inventory and ensures optimal stock levels
- Monitors implementation of In store signage discipline
- Monitors adherence to merchandise/display standards
- Conducts regular quality checks on merchandise
- Checks that products pricing is correct
- Monitors quality checks on merchandise
- Investigates incidents and completes prescribed documentation
- Develops and builds supplier relationships
- Ensures that service areas is ready for trade by store opening time
- Rectifies all nonscanning barcodes
Customer Service Management
- Listens, confirms and responds to customer request for products and services
- Promotes specialty products to customers
- Ensures that special assistance is given to disabled customers as required
- Communicates with customers on by laws and company rules e.g. pets, parcels and trading hours
- Handles customer complaints escalated for action
Finance
- Monitors budgets (expenses, turnover, gross)
- Oversees departmental Profit and Loss stock takes
- Ensures that proper controls are implemented to monitor the use of packaging
- Implements action plan to control excessive wastage
- Follows up and controls departmental expenses
People Management and Development
- Monitors the performance of subordinates against agreed objectives and standards
- Conducts onthejob training for departmental staff in store
- Reviews staffing requirements
- Delegates
- Conducts on the Job assessment of individual onthejob performance
- Monitors, assists and advises on staff performance
- Supervises all staff
- Manages and motivates team to meet profit objectives and operational efficiencies
Operations and Maintenance Management
- Ensures that all equipment is maintained in effective working order
- Ensures that equipment is operated in accordance to laid down standards
- Ensures that scales are calibrated on a regular basis
- Ensures that backups are well maintained
- Ensures that checks are carried out on faulty equipment before calling out relevant contractor
- Monitors the execution of service contracts with contractors
- Checks that scale records correct weight daily and are correctly tared
Administration
- Place all orders on a daily basis
- Monitors productivity levels off all staff
- Completes all relevant administration documentation
- Ensures actions plans to reduce excessive wastage are implemented and maintained
- Conducts regular meeting with Departmental Management teams
- Monitors budgets relating to sales, gross profit, net profit and expenses
- Monitors and checks accuracy of LAN listings with reference to incorrect barcodes and discontinued lines
- Monitors and checks that price changes are actioned daily
- Analyses stock reports
- Monitors and checks that price changes are actioned daily
- Analyses daily/weekly turnover & wastage figures
- Coordinates and Participates in biannual and Weekly stock takes
Cold Chain
- Ensures that temperature controls in fridges are set and maintained at required levels
- Maintains cold chain processes
- Ensures that food temperatures (hot and cold) are maintained
Food Safety and Hygiene
- Ensures that food safety/hygiene and housekeeping standards are maintained
- Conducts daily quality checks
- Ensures that food safety policies are communicated to all staff
- Ensures that correct clothing is worn by staff
Shrinkage &Security Management
- Ensures adherence to security procedures
- Ensures that security systems in Receiving are fully operational
- Implements shrinkage control measures
Labels and packaging
Ensures that proper controls are implemented to monitor the use of packaging
In store Preparation/Production
- Ensures that preparation and finishing of fresh products is done according to recipes and specifications
- Ensures that production planning is done in accordance with store needs
- Issues instructions on production requirements
- Manages the buying and ordering process of raw ingredients
- Communicates with buyers on incorrect supply of products
- Ensures consistent product availability
- Develops daily/weekly production plans and monitors the production process against production plans
- Monitors the quality of product
