The Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating field service operations from the Port Harcourt base while ensuring that all projects are completed on time and closed out efficiently to facilitate timely revenue collection.
The Assistant Operations Manager will play a dual role as both the Assistant Delivery Manager and the Base Manager, while also focusing on the profitability of projects and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in project and service management, with a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification being highly desirable.
Additionally, the Assistant Operations Manager will manage customer relationships, ensuring excellent service delivery throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Job Function
Monitor and coordinate the daily operations of the Port Harcourt base, ensuring alignment with company standards and goals, while optimizing operational costs to enhance overall profitability.
Lead the planning, execution, and completion of field service projects, ensuring compliance with client requirements and high levels of customer satisfaction, while also assessing the financial impact of project decisions.
Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure service excellence and strong customer relationships, focusing on maintaining profitabilitythroughout the project lifecycle.
Oversee all field service operations from the Port Harcourt base, including resource allocation, scheduling, and logistics, with a focus on maximizing operational efficiency and minimizing costs.
Ensure proper documentation and tracking of field service operations, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to support project closeout, revenue recognition, and financial reporting.
Develop and maintain effective communication channels with field staff, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary resources and information to deliver projects within budget and on time.
Manage, mentor and develop the field operations team, including supervisors, technicians, and support staff, to enhance performance and ensure a strong understanding of commercial goals.
Ensure high levels of safety, performance, and compliance across the team in accordance with company and industry standards, understanding how safety impacts overall project costs and profitability.
Conduct regular team meetings and briefings to ensure alignment on goals, tasks, and safety protocols, emphasizing the importance of cost management in project execution.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Port Harcourt base, including facility management, inventory, and workshop operations, with a focus on maintaining operational standards while controlling costs.
Act as the primary point of contact for any issues or emergencies at the PH base, ensuring timely resolution while considering the financial implications of operational decisions
Identify and mitigate potential risks in field operations, ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed, while also assessing the financial risks associated with those operations.
Monitor and report on any incidents, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and analyzing how incidents may affect project costs and profitability.
Implement and maintain operational best practices to ensure optimal efficiency and safety in field operations, aiming to enhance the bottom line through continuous improvement.
Act as the liaison between clients and the field operations team, ensuring client satisfaction throughout project delivery while also focusing on meeting or exceeding financial targets.
Address client queries and concerns promptly, ensuring a high level of customer service and fostering long-term client relationships that contribute to repeat business and profitability.
Evaluate project performance post-completion to assess profitability, P&L implications, and areas for improvement, ensuring continuous enhancement of service delivery and commercial acumen within the team.
Take ownership of profit and loss for field service operations, ensuring that financial targets are met and that projects are executed with a strong focus on cost-effectiveness and revenue generation.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, an MBA is a plus
Minimum Experience:
8+ years of experience in project management or service delivery roles.
Proven experience in managing field service operations and teams.
Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations in field operations.
