    Advocacy and Capacity Building Officer

    Key Responsibilities
    Advocacy and Campaign Management:

    • Develop and implement advocacy strategies aligned with project objectives.
    • Plan and execute advocacy campaigns targeting key stakeholders, policymakers, and community leaders.
    • Conduct advocacy visits and represent FRAD at coordination forums, stakeholder meetings, and public engagements.
    • Support resource mobilization efforts through strategic partnerships and engagement.

    Capacity Building:

    • Conduct training needs assessments for stakeholders and community structures.
    • Design and deliver training sessions, workshops, and mentoring programs.
    • Develop training materials and capacity-building tools.
    • Promote localization and sustainability through strengthening community systems.

    Research and Analysis:

    • Conduct research and policy analysis to inform advocacy strategies.
    • Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories.
    • Provide evidence-based recommendations for program improvement.

    Stakeholder and Community Engagement:

    • Maintain strong working relationships with government agencies, community leaders, CSOs, and partners.
    • Facilitate community dialogues and engagement platforms.
    • Ensure Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles are mainstreamed in all activities.

    Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning:

    • Develop and track advocacy and capacity-building impact metrics.
    • Monitor sustainability indicators and community feedback mechanisms.
    • Prepare periodic reports on advocacy and capacity-building outcomes.

    Communication and Outreach:

    • Support communication initiatives related to advocacy campaigns.
    • Contribute to visibility materials, policy briefs, and reports.

    Administrative and Compliance Responsibilities:

    • Support documentation, reporting, and filing of advocacy and training activities.
    • Ensure activities comply with FRAD policies and donor requirements.

    Professional Conduct:

    • Represent FRAD in alignment with its mission and vision.
    • Uphold transparency, accountability, and teamwork.
    • Demonstrate innovation, creativity, and proactive problem-solving.

    Performance will be assessed based on:

    • Advocacy impact metrics
    • Capacity building impact metrics
    • Sustainability indicators
    • Feedback and evaluation outcomes
    • Quality of stakeholder engagement
    • Training effectiveness

    Qualifications and Experience
    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or related field.
    • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in humanitarian response, particularly in advocacy and community engagement.
    • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
    • Demonstrated ability to multitask and work under pressure.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law.
    • At least three (3) years’ experience in legal practice, advocacy, community engagement, and capacity building.
    • Fluency in Hausa, Kanuri, and other local languages spoken in Borno and Yobe States.
