Line Manager: Medical Coordinator

It has continued to highlight obstacles that exist in accessing health care and has secured sustainable improvements in health-for-all policies. Those working for this independent organization do not solely dispense care and treatment but condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve matters for populations living in precarious situations.
MdM currently works in 46 countries across all continents where it focuses on 4 priority areas: caring for the health of migrants and displaced persons, promoting sexual and reproductive health, combating HIV and reducing the harm and risks associated with drug use, crises and conflicts.
JOB TASKS
Under the supervision of the Medical Coordinator, the Deputy Medical Coordinator will be responsible for the following activities:

Strategic Vision:
The capacity to identify, articulate and communicate principles, ideas and priorities in order to channel efforts and resources towards the social mission of MDM. The ability to link day-to-day work with the long-term objectives to be achieved.

The capacity to persuade, inspire and mobilize people to contribute to MDM’s social mission, including the ability to make difficult, political and/or operational decisions even against popular opinion/will, and to explain clearly the reasons for them.

Clinical skills:
L3: Diagnosis and treatment of comment childhood illnesses, including malnutrition, and common outbreaks (measles, malaria, cholera and meningitis)
L1: Diagnosis and treatment of main (other) morbidities in country
Assessment and planning skills:
L2: Asses medical and humanitarian emergencies, prepare and implement outbreak response
Medical stock management and pharmacy:
L3: Rational prescription principles and good dispensing practices
L2: Stock and supply management
Quality assurance skills:
L3: Hygiene and infection control to MDM standards (
L1: Bio-safety
L3: Clinical quality assessment, improvement and assurance of program
L2: WASH requirements
Data-management skills:
L3 Master MDM relevant tools
L2 Analyze and use of MDM data tools generated information
L2 Knowledge of epidemiological principles
HRM skills:
L2: Coaching and performance evaluation of medical staff (
Resource management skills:
L1: knowledge of logistic and financial tools
L1: prioritization of resources
Representation skills:
L3: Representation of MDM in national medical forum
L2: Representation of MDM in media, advocacy related fora
Other Fixed Requirements
Education
Degree in medicine or other paramedical studies. Specialization in tropical medicine or a degree in Public Health would be an asset.
Experience
Experience in two different projects (minimum of six months each); preferably 18-24 months MDM field experience or equivalent in another organization;
Languages
Mission language English; local working language would be an asset (Hawsa and / or Margi and / or Arabic.
