SUMMARY OF POSITION:  To perform a wide variety of skilled carpentry tasks for county facilities involving construction, installation, and repair of wooden structures and fixtures; and to perform related work.

Specific Objectives and Responsibilities

• Leads a crew involved in carpentry work.
• Coordinates the work of related crafts.
• Assigns work to crew or project members.
• Checks and completes work records.
• Site measures, estimates material takeoffs and prepares orders for supplies and equipment. 
• Prepares progress reports using computer data entry systems.
• Installs, repairs and maintains windows and frames, doors and frames, screens, and finish hardware systems.
• Constructs, installs repairs and maintains finish carpentry systems including cabinets, counter tops, laminate construction, interior and exterior trim and wainscoting.
• Installs drywall & partitions systems.
• Prepares designs and sketches for some design/build carpentry projects.
• Operates and maintains stationary woodworking equipment including table saws, band saws, boring machines, planers, jointers and shapers.
• Operates power hand tools including, skill saws, jig saws, drills, hammer drills, drivers, impact drivers, and screw guns.
