    Business Development Officer

    Roles and Responsibilities    

    The following are the roles and responsibilities for this role:
    •Research the market for identifying new business opportunities.
    •Develop creative strategies to retain the clients including interviewing them to take their feedback and incorporate it into the growth plan.
    •Analyse the current and past budgets, expenses, sales, revenues and product deficiencies in order to provide recommendations for business growth and problem resolution.
    •Develop business and marketing plans in coordination with the BDM to achieve revenue goals.
    •Manage customer calls and appointments effectively for new opportunities.
    •Develop in-depth knowledge about business development practices, marketing activities, prospective clients and industry trends.
    •Supervise the client relationship management database and utilise it to manage customer contacts and mailing lists.
    •Assist in company’s branding and media communication activities such as press releases, advertisements, marketing collaterals, and web site.
    •Participate in industry forums, client discussions, and conferences as a representative of the organisation.
    •Explain to prospective clients about the advantages of the products or services offered and follow up with them in order to close the business deals.
    •Prepare the annual marketing budget in coordination with the BDM, and track the expenses against the budget.
    •Determine cross-selling opportunities among different offices.
    •Develop strong customer relationships in order to generate high volume of prospective clients.
    •Develop business proposals for new and existing clients.
    •Maintain a knowledge repository of clients, referrals, prospects and presentations.
    •Respond to the client queries regarding the products in a timely fashion.
    •Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
    •Cold call as appropriate within the market area to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.
    •Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
    •Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organisation.
    •Research and build relationships with new clients.
    •Set up meetings between client decision makers and company’s practice leaders.
    •Plan approaches and pitches.
    •Work with team to develop proposals that speak to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
    •Participate in pricing the service.
    •Handle objections by clarifying, emphasising agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion.
    •Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately.
    •Present an image that mirrors that of the client.
    •Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
    •Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
    •Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.
    •Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
    •Present to and consult with the BDM on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.
    •Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.
    •Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.

    Skill set    
    •A male is more preferable for this role
    •Ability to network, negotiate and persuade
    •Effective communication and public speaking skills
    •A passion for research and excellent writing skills
    •Motivation for sales and strong sales closing skills
    •Prospecting skills
    •A strong knowledge of sales planning
    •Must be able to identify client needs and challenges
    •Territory management and good market knowledge
    •Must be able to meet sales goals and targets
    •Professionalism
    •Microsoft Office and IT skills
    •Minimum of B.Sc./HND in Business Management, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Economics or any relevant field
    •3 – 5 years experience across in a sales/marketing/business development environment with proven success records
