    Group Head, Finance

    Job Summary

    To achieve cost-effective utilisation of accounting and financial resources, through the definition and enforcement of Financial Standards, Policies and Procedures. The individual will to perform the following responsibilities and report directly to the Group Managing Director

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Develops and implements a robust and reliable financial accounting and reporting system in compliance with statutory requirements
    • Engages Executive Management and the appropriate Board Committee to develop short, medium, and long-term financial plans and projections
    • Develops and utilises financial models and activity-based financial analysis to provide a basis for investment decisions and business planning
    • Manages key banking relationships to facilitate proper, timely and cost-effective funding of business operations
    • Develops and maintains a system of appropriate financial policies, procedures and control to ensure efficient financial management
    • Monitors all third-party payments to ensure that such payments are justified by the value of work successfully completed and are in alignment with the approved budget
    • Reviews weekly financial reports submitted by relevant departments/units and presents timely reports to the Board of Directors
    • Oversees the preparation and communication of timely, accurate, and useful financial and management reports for management on a periodic and/or ad-hoc basis
    • Coordinates the preparation of the company’s financial reports and statutory reporting process
    • Raises funds as approved by the Board of Directors, to finance activities
    • Works to ensure that adequate controls are in place to facilitate seamless payment system
    • Puts in place measures or controls to ensure that all financial transactions are accurately captured and reported
    • Approves accruals and adjustments on erroneously posted financial transactions into the financial system
    • Liaises with external auditors to discuss and resolve queries as they arise to ensure seamless audit exercise
    • Develops and manages relationships with relevant bodies/contracts, e.g., regulatory organisations auditors, solicitors, bankers, etc.
    • Responds to relevant requests from financial institutions
    • Approves payrolls along with the Head-Human Capital to facilitate payment to staff
    • Advises Executive Management on changes in financial regulations, legislations and government tariffs
    • Manages the treasury assets to achieve optimal sourcing, application and growth of funds
    • Provides technical training, guidance and advise on financial accounting issues, developments and trends to other business or departmental heads
    • Oversees day-to-day accounting transactions and provides leadership to the Finance Department

    Required Qualifications:

    • Minimum of twelve (12) years relevant experience, 5 of which have been in an Executive Management position of an organisation, interfacing with the Executive team and financial partners. Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any related discipline
    • Relevant professional certifications, e.g., Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Association of Certified and Chartered Accountants (ACCA) or its equivalent
    • Experience of statutory financial reporting and knowledge of GAAP, IFRS
    • MBA or Master’s degree in a related discipline is an advantage
