    JOB BRIEF:

    • Provide investment information and financial advice; work with corporate and individual clients; and maintain knowledge of a wide range of investment and financial products, including alternative investments, stocks, bonds, and shares.
    • As an Investment Manager you will work within the Investment department. The role involves managing the investment portfolio of the RSA, Retiree, TCF and Legacy Funds.
    • You will be asked to be responsible for managing the fund’s investments and ensuring that the fund’s investment strategy is aligned with its goals. You will also be required to work with other departments in the overall management of the fund including operations, customer services, compliance, internal audit and risk management.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Engages in regular research and reading to stay apprised about the state of the Nigeria economy, global financial markets, and general current events.
    • Maintains current knowledge about financial products available to corporate and individual clients, including bonds, stocks and other approved investments.
    • Works closely with internal and external investment analysts to assess financial information and investment opportunities.
    • Presents investment opportunities and related analysis while pitching proposed course of action in meetings with clients.
    • Uses complex financial models to project future earning and profit potential and uses this data to inform decisions and proposals.
    • Makes decisions about financial and investment opportunities on behalf of clients.
    • Meets with external investment teams, including analysts and other managers, to stay up-to-date about market situations and company decisions that may impact one another
    • Takes on high levels of responsibility in dealing with financial institutions, corporate clients, investment organisations, and insurance companies.
    • Develops relationships with clients and expands client network in professional and social settings.
    • Specialises in a particular field or industry to aspire to achieve expert level knowledge.
    • Participate actively in making suggestions/ inputs in the articulation, formulation and execution of policies that would enhance investment activities.
    • Monitor interest rates and other issues to aid investment decision and negotiations with financial institutions.
    • Reconcile fund under management on monthly basis.
    • Generate period reports on investment of funds under management.
    • Maintain template of global securities Buy list in Asset Allocation of the portfolio managed by the company.
    • Responsible for portfolio construction and securities selection in accordance with PENCOM Investment Guidelines.
    • Establish a system of internal control which will be an investment procedure manual and shall conform to Radix Pension Managers’ policies and procedures.
    • Carry out instructions on placements, roll-overs and terminations of investments.
    • Carry out instructions on stock, bond, purchases and sales.
    • Keep records of assigned investments.
    • Follow up on investment transactions and ensure completeness.
    • Assist in processes relating to investment decisions.
    • Type correspondences and reports.
    • Liaise with Custodians and Stockbrokers in the ordinary course of business.
    • Participate in the preparation of the investment positions of the company and funds under management on a Daily, Weekly and Monthly basis.
    • Handle valuation of stock portfolio on daily basis.
    • Liaise with stock brokers and banks to ensure proper compliance with agreed terms and conditions in respect of shares/ bonds purchases and sales.
    • Liaise with custodian in respect of fund placement, position, dividend, and coupons, bonus and rights issue.
    • Reconcile custodian’s valuation with the funds under management on daily and monthly basis.
    • Working with the external Auditors on the financial statement of the funds under management.
    • Prepare stock prices in a format that is acceptable by Sybase System on daily basis.
    • Supervise junior officers of the department in performing investment duties.
    • Perform other duties that may be assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Economics/Business Administration, ACCA/ACA, Master’s will be an added advantage

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in an investment role preferably from the Pension/Banking Industry with at least 5 years in a managerial position.

    TECHNICAL SKILLS:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
    • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)

    BEHAVIOURAL SKILLS:

    • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
    • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
