Early in this 30 Day Work Challenge, we talked about how important your team is and how important your team members are. If you miss it, you can look at Day 2 and Day 5 of the challenge.
We both have strongly agreed that one of the most indispensable assets you have at work are your colleagues. After all, we spend the majority of our time in the office and with them either working on the same project or different projects while still striving to achieve the same business objective.
But when it comes to getting more value out of teamwork, most people fail and fall flat. And this is because people are looking at what they can get rather than what they can give. Successful people rather think the other way round. They focus more on giving than receiving. They understand the importance of building their emotional and trust bank understanding very well the principle of reciprocity.
So how can you start investing in your team so that one day you reap the reward?
One way to give to the team is to help team members achieve their goals. Notice anyone struggling with a task, offer to help out. Do you have industry knowledge the team can use, do not hesitate to share? Remember the goal is to become an indispensable team member and someone your team can rely on.
