“No man is an island”.

I am sure you must have heard that, and we discussed why your team members are important to you during our Day 2 of the 30 Day Work Challenge. A major mistake people make is sticking with their team alone. But for you to make a truly great impact in your place of work or new role, you need to go cross border.

If there is more than one team in your company, then you need to get to know other people on other teams and what they do.  

So today, I want you to walk up to any other team in your company, and really get to know them. If there is a team that directly impacts you, then you may give them a bit more focus. Eg building a good relationship with your technical team might be a good idea since you will definitely need them to probably fix something on the site or so.

You can get someone to do a lot for you when they know you personally than when all they know about you is your title or a vague face. Spend time with them if possible, spend time with the managers also and get to understand them generally. You will get a lot done more this way than keeping aloof and staying at your desk.
