    Project Manager Infrastructure (Road) - Expatriate

    Job Introduction

        Adexen was mandated to recruit an Expatriate Project Manager Infrastructure (roads) for a major Engineering & Construction Company in Nigeria. The position is based in Abuja.

    Responsibilities

    • The Project Manager Infrastructure is technically responsible for coordinating infrastructural projects (road construction and services), its correctness and on-time delivery.
    • He evaluates and helps determine appropriate construction delivery systems and the most cost-effective plan and schedule for completing the project.  He may direct the work of several subordinates, such as assistant managers or superintendents, MEP coordinator, senior quantity surveyors, planners and site staff.  The construction managers responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
    • Monitoring suitability and availability of drawings and other data to ensure the contractor has the right information for the work in hand.
    • Monitoring staffing levels and suitability of abilities for outstanding work items.
    • Monitoring quality of product / information / coordination provided by the consultant.
    • Monitoring the quality and timeliness of inspections carried out
    • Monitoring contractors for compliance with their contractual responsibilities.
    • Monitoring progress of the works for compliance with schedule.
    • Ensuring that materials for the works are submitted for approval in time, delivered on time and suitably stored on site prior to incorporation in the works.
    • Ensuring that each contractor complies with the current coordinated method statement for coordinating with other contractors.
    • Ensuring issues related to projects are properly entered into the issue logs and are then addressed and resolved in an appropriate fashion.
    • Reviewing the cost tracking data to ensure that approved contingencies and allowances are not exceeded.
    • Recommending approvals / disapproval of variation orders within the established authority limits.
    • Establishing and maintaining the procedures for meetings, meeting documentation, follow up and tracking of issues and participate actively in resolving outstanding issues.
    • Receiving all project related correspondence and communication and providing direction and action to his team including consultants and contractors.
    • Identifying and minimising the risks for potential claims.
    • Reviewing, analysing and preparing recommended actions for disputes and claims.
    • Preparing documentation for all occurrences in the field on a daily basis.

    Desired Skills and Experience

    • Has to hold a bachelor or higher degree in structural or civil engineering or in a discipline related to it
    • Holding a master degree will be an added advantage
    • Must be authorised to work in Nigeria
    • Needs to prove over 10 years experience in infrastructural (e.g. earth works, roads, sewer systems) or related design works and is preferably familiar with international industry standards
    • Proves experience with MS Office, AutoCAD, Civil3D and other common software in infrastructural design
    • Is a self starter with an aptitude to problem solving, can work independently and is a good leader
    • Demonstrates excellent professional interpersonal and communication skills
    • Must be fluent in oral and written English.

    Consulting Business Developer

    Job Introduction

        Adexen is mandated by an international consulting firm to recruit a Business Developer Consultant for its operations in Nigeria. The position is based in Lagos.

    Responsibilities

    • Business Developer will support the company West African projects, from Paris, Lomé, Abidjan or Lagos
    • Conducting market research

    Desired Skills and Experience

    • Bachelor degree's is required

    • French command will be a plus
    • Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
    • Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences, both in oral and speaking forms
    • Motivated to take initiatives, work without supervision, particularly on new topics
    • He/she may expect to travel in multiple countries.

    General Manager, Operations

    Job Introduction

    Adexen has been mandated by a multinational Logistics & Supply Chain company to recruit a General Manager, Operations for its operations in Nigeria. The position is based in Port-Harcourt, Nigeria.

    Responsibilities
    Coordinate the daily operations and clearing of shipment respecting interconnect procedures and lead time in order to match the scope of work. Lead the sea-freight and transport teams in areas of profitability, efficiency, and quality of service.

    Responsibilities:

    • Supervise all administrative activities related to the section under his responsibility, including regular operational and inspection visits to each site.
    • Ensure and implement a tight follow-up with the operations and clearing team, to monitor and manage continuity in clearing and delivery of all traffic in accordance with our client’s expectations/satisfaction.
    • Implement statistics and status report per clients from pre-alert till delivery.
    • Ensure budget goals are achieved and operational cost controlled.
    • Oversee single goods declaration and processing for both import and export shipments.
    • Oversee customs examination and release of goods.
    • Oversee import and export operations in the seaport
    • Ensure immediate invoicing and archiving of closed files.
    • Managing conflicting situations that may occur between the different sections under his responsibility in close cooperation with the Country Managing Director.
    • Work closely with each section to develop and maintain a productive work team spirit by supervising, and reinforcing company rules and procedures.
    • Close liaison with the commercial department to assist in addressing specific customer requirements and preparing appropriate technical solutions with associated costs in conjunction with the heavy-lift expert.
    • Define, in conjunction with the Country Managing Director specific targets for each activity the company promotes.
    • Ensure operational procedures are put in place, updated when necessary, understood and respected.
    • Ensure QHSE is complied with within the zone of operation and that new regulations and licenses are followed.
    • Develop and keep up formal and informal contacts with authorities.
    • Ensure that all operational corrective/preventive or improvement actions defined during meetings with the Country Managing Director are implemented.
    • Prepare reports on a regular basis and send to the Country Managing Director.

    Desired Skills and Experience

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree will be an added advantage.
    • Eight years’ experience in transport, clearing & forwarding operations.
    • Sound knowledge of customs regulatory documents and the preparation and Classification of goods in the Customs Tariffs.
    • Must be a team player and manager with excellent communication skills
    • Good interpersonal relationship with customs and other Federal Agencies at the port.
    • Ability to use a computing system.
