    Community Engagement Officer

    Details:

    Background
    The T-SON II Project is an anticipated Programme and subject to being awarded the grant by AmplifyChange UK to provide information and services that will lead to change in social norms and attitudes underpinning harmful cultural practices such as female genital mutilation. T-SON II Nigeria is planning to contract Community Engagement Officers on a part time basis, to help the Project meet its growing need for quality engagement and public interaction services. The successful applicant will provide technical support to the Communication Officer and or Advocacy Lead in penetrating communities and contribute to the development and improvement of project deliverables, risk mitigation and attitudes transformation produced by the Project. He/She will ensure that T-SON II’s activities at community level follows donor specified community engagement guidelines, provide the best possible functionality and usability to the project partners and contribute to the overall project success.

    These positions will be based tentatively in Osun, Oyo, Imo and Ebonyi states.
    The responsibility of this consultancy is to ensure the implementation and adherence to existing community mobilization for action guidelines; advocacy entry points, layout of mapping and design of innovative approaches.

    Tasks and Responsibilities
    Implement T-SON II’s branding policy:

    • Manage T-SON II’s community engagement activities and contracted consultants and provide expert advice, focused and coordinated with programme priorities, demonstrating innovation and excellence
    • Develop and implement entry point routes for team members in all of the Project’s Community engagement activities
    • Develop new strategies for strengthened advocacy and resource mobilization and create greater awareness of T-SON II’s vision and value to key constituents in order to increase partnership and funding opportunities. Design and lay-out of community advocacy and relationship building:
    • Build strong networks with gatekeepers and key influencers in focal communities;
    • Suggest key advocacy routes and penetration strategies for advocacy and communications team;
    • Deliver successful liaison products to meet the needs above, such as meeting facilitation, stakeholder engagement and positive lobbying.

    Detailed specifications for each individual assignment will be given to the selected Community Engagement Officer (s) as and when the Officer’s services are requested.

    Qualification and Expertise
    The successful entity is required to meet the following criteria:
    Esential: University Degree in Advocacy, communications, journalism, public health and/or related field.

    Desirable: An Education combination of advocacy, communication, journalism, and/or media with public health or a health related field.

    Experience: At least 2 years’ experience in the field of advocacy and community interventions on sexual and reproductive health and rights issues.
    Skills: Strong theoretical and practical background in community mobilization or action, leadership and ability to successfully interact with diverse stakeholders at local and national level.

    Monitoring & Evaluation Officer

    Background
    The Youth Network for Community and Sustainable development is an youth lead development NGO and parent Organization to the Youth Network Against FGM in Nigeria.
    The Youth Network Against FGM is currently pre-positioning for a new AmplifyChange funded Project on Building Evidence to end FGM/C in Nigeria. The Project is for 6 months and anticipated to commence in September 2018. The Project is aimed at developing M&E Tools and Products needed to sustain the transformation
    of social norms that underpin FGM/C.

    Purpose of Job
    Working in close collaboration with the Technical Specialist and Programme Managers, the M&E officer mainly manages the progress of the anticipated AmplifyChange funded
    Project- Building Evidence to End FGM.

    Reports to: Technical Specialist

    Supervision and Working Relationships
    The M&E Officer is supervised by the Technical Specialist and Programme Manager who support him/her as necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
    Main Responsibilities and Tasks

    • Carry primary responsibility for supporting BE4A Project of its M&E activities
    • Develops baseline data for each project site in the programme
    • Collects and collates reports from the field sites.
    • Coordinates with field implementers regarding reports and M&E activities.
    • Monitor and quality assurance spot checks on each project site.
    • Monitoring visits to implementing partners for data clarifications.
    • Trainings for implementing and management partners – . Key participants – head of the project site and person responsible for data collection.
    • Technical support for operational research.
    • Development of case studies to capture qualitative outputs of the project.
    • Establish infrastructure project risk management plan and the system of early warning system for all programmes.
    • Carry responsibility for managing the use of the Network’s Monitoring and
    • Reporting System (MRS) within the programme team:
    • Work with programme staff to design support plans to help partners adopt the reporting formats required by the MRS.
    • Supervise data input into the MRS and processes for checking data quality with partners.
    • Coordinate the updating of indicators in the MRS database to enable the fulfillment of reporting obligations to donors.
    • Ensure that quarterly MRS reports are submitted to the Alliance Secretariat by the stipulated deadlines.
    • Undertake M&E support for other programme:
    • Performs other liaison works regarding M&E with the field implementers and other partners, and follows up important papers related to M&E.
    • Performs other tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the M&E focal person in the Project office.
    • Supports the programme team on M&E when planning a project.
    • Lead the M&E capacity building of the programme team.

    Personal Attributes:
    The post holder must possess the following skills, experience;

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s or equivalent degree in public administration, community development, statistics, social or development related studies;
    • Strong commitment on SRHR issues in Nigeria;
    • Ability to work under pressure;
    • At least one to three years’ experience on monitoring and evaluation
    • At least one years’ experience in designing research methodology
    • Knowledge of information systems
    • Excellent analytical skills; mature judgment combined with a proactive, energetic approach to problem solving.
    • Excellent English language (written and spoken)

    Communications Officer

    Background

The successful applicant will provide technical support to the Communication section/technical Adviser in designing our publications and contribute to the development and improvement of the design, branding and layout of materials produced by the Project. It will ensure that T-SON II’s products and reports are following donor specified communication guidelines, provide the best possible functionality and usability to the project partners and contribute to the overall branding process.

    The responsibility of this consultancy is to ensure the implementation and adherence to existing communication guidelines; layout of reports and publications in English, and pigeon English; development of new public engagement communication solutions; and design of innovative products.

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Implement the graphic guidelines in all of the Project’s communication products;

    • Design and lay-out of reports and other products:
    • Build strong networks through central communication among current partners and funders;
    • Design of reports and other communication materials for printing and electronic distribution;
    • Deliver successful communication products to meet the needs above, such as print publications, the web, video, multimedia and advertising Layout and design information and communication materials (banners, posters, booklets, leaflets, books, calendars, bulletins, flyers, cards)
    • Create animations for illustrative purposes such as animations, presentations and more advanced solutions (design of CD/DVD packaging, graphic digitalization);
    • Custom photo editing (restoration, noise reduction, tonal adjustment)
    • Deliver creative graphic and technical solutions for use of new media (virtual 3D words/boxes, postcards)

    Qualification and Expertise
    The successful entity is required to meet the following criteria:
    Essential: University Degree in communications, journalism, media, public health and/or related field.
    Desirable:

    • An Education combination of communication, journalism, and/or media with public health Or a health related field.
    • Show a clear and mature style of design, demonstrating an understanding of the communication requirements within the public health sector in Nigeria.
    • Proven experience of graphic production from start to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) and color management;
    • Good understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms;
    • Knowledge of standard software packages, including MS Office– MS Access–MS Visio –Adobe Acrobat;

    Experience: At least 2 years’ experience in the field of health and science communications,
    Experience in sexual and reproductive health and rights will be an added advantage.

    Skills: Strong theoretical and practical background in graphic design, including the use of design software such as Adobe Design Premium, In-Design, CorelDraw, web design tools such as Dreamweaver and Flash,etc. Ability to think out of the box, flexibility and high attention to details.
