    Matron (Specialist Hospital)

    Job Description

    • As a matron, you will primarily be responsible for supervising nurses and nurse managers, facilitating the design and implementing the delivery of patient care, recommending strategies to improve services, reaching established goals, maintaining satisfactory outcomes and contributing to profitability.

    Responsibilities
    Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Providing line management and professional leadership to ward managers and specialist nurses/midwives and other staff.
    • Ensuring patient/client/carer involvement in development of services and environmental standards.
    • Responsible for supervision of overall nursing care of the patient.
    • Coordinating pre-Op and Post-op patients care.
    • Checking patients dressing for any oozing and taking corrective measures.
    • Assisting in procedure as and when required.
    • Ensuring proper admission, transfer, and discharge process for all the patients in the wards.
    • Ensure safety, comfort and privacy of the patients.
    • Ensuring the implementation of the doctors’ orders.
    • Supervise maintaining records and reports.
    • Ensuring visibility and accessibility to patients, families and carers.
    • Ensuring patients receive quality care
    • Monitoring the activities of subordinate staff to ensuring patients are treated with respect at all times.
    • Dealing properly with any adverse situation in ward, bringing it to the notice of superiors and raising incident reports.
    • Supervision of return non-consumed medicines before discharge of the patient.
    • Maintain proper record for medication error, adverse drug reaction, patient fall etc
    • Dealing with patients’ complaints and concerns, and escalating issues which require further intervention.
    • Ensuring patients’ nutritional needs are met, and taking measures to prevent hospital-acquired infections.
    • Attending doctors’ rounds and assisting with diagnosis and medical procedures as directed.
    • Assessing evaluating and planning the requirements of different level of staff and their need in the work situation.
    • Providing specialist education and training to other staff;
    • Ensuring compliance with, and policies, procedures and guidelines
    • Assessing and evaluating the different clinical services and facilities available.

    • Planning, conducting and participating in a staff meeting with nurses and other Clinical activities.

    • Supervising subordinate activities regularly to improve performance.
    • Providing feedback to nursing personnel on their clinical performance.
    • Assessing nurses’ performance, while providing mentoring and feedback.
    • Completing annual performance evaluation for self and employees and implement plans of correction when needed

    • Maintaining required competencies for self and all employees within the department
    • Assisting in maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
    • Researching and staying up-to-date on the latest updates and information regarding nursing care practices.
    • Participate in the identification, development and delivery of education, training and personal/professional development for nursing and support staff.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Must be a RN & RM with years' Post Qualification
    • 15 years experience in active nursing profession
    • Must provide proof of a valid license.
    • Must have previous Management experience
    • B.Sc Nursing with a Management qualification is an added advantage

    Skills:

    • Administration skills.
    • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.

    Business Manager (Hospital Operations)

    Job Description

    • The Business Manager is responsible to the Director of Business Services for all matters of business administration and financial control of the Hospital.
    • In the areas of budget preparation and financial planning the Business Manager shall liaise with the Finance Manager. In the areas of staffing, the BM shall liaise with the Human Resource Manager.
    • The Business Manager is also responsible for managing the macro financial, property and administrative functions of the Hospital.

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate and manage whole Hospital issues such as Personnel, Capital Works and other matters where required by the Director of Business Services.
    • To work closely with clinical departments to ensure the provision of an efficient and cost effective administrative service
    • Oversee the administrative functions and operations of the Hospital and the resolution of issues as they arise.
    • Be responsible for the efficient administration of the Hospital, particularly with regard to ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
    • Ensure that there is proper accounting for and control over all income and expenditure of the Hospital.
    • Monitor expenses and suggest cost-effective alternatives to management.
    • Act in the role of "Public Officer" for taxation purposes and ensure the maintenance of appropriate taxation records and compliance with Income Tax Assessment Act and other relevant legislation.
    • Prepare periodic management reports as required for presentation to the Board of Directors including written reports highlighting any issues for attention.
    • Monitor the Hospital cash flow and arrange for investment of surplus funds.
    • Oversee and be responsible for the administration staff, and other ancillary staff of the School.
    • Oversee all staffing matters including recruitment, on-boarding and exit processes.
    • Advise management on new and existing staff salary levels and conditions of employment in accordance with relevant employment contracts.
    • Be responsible to the Director of Business Services and the Board of Directors, for the oversight, coordination and reporting of all Capital Works planning and construction.
    • Ensure prompt ordering and stocking of medical and office supplies.
