    Team Lead, Mobile Engineering (Android POS)

    About the job

    • To lead a talented team of mobile engineers in the design, development, and deployment of robust, scalable, and secure Android Point-of-Sale (POS) applications, contributing to the overall mobile strategy and technical excellence.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of mobile engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
    • Drive the design, development, testing, and deployment of cutting-edge Android POS applications using Kotlin.
    • Architect and implement robust, scalable, and secure mobile solutions, ensuring high quality and performance.
    • Collaborate closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, and other engineering teams to define requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver exceptional user experiences.
    • Oversee the technical design and implementation of SDK integrations for various payment processing and hardware components.
    • Utilize EMV (Europay, MasterCard, and Visa) knowledge to ensure compliance and best practices in payment solutions.
    • Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and enforce coding standards and best practices.
    • Contribute to the overall mobile strategy and roadmap, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.
    • Troubleshoot and debug complex technical issues, ensuring timely resolution.
    • Stay abreast of emerging mobile technologies and industry trends, evaluating and recommending new tools and practices.

    Academic Qualification(s):

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

    Professional Qualification(s):

    • Strong knowledge of architectural patterns and best practices for building scalable Android applications.
    • Solid understanding of the Android SDK, different Android versions, and how to deal with screen sizes.
    • Knowledge of EMV (Europay, MasterCard, and Visa) specifications and experience in implementing secure payment solutions.
    • Experience with various Android Jetpack components.
    • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.

    Experience (Number of relevant years):

    • 5+ years of experience in mobile application development, with a strong emphasis on Android.
    • 3+ years of hands-on experience developing Android applications using Kotlin is essential.
    • Proven experience in leading or mentoring a team of software engineers.
    • Demonstrable experience with Android Point-of-Sale (POS) development.
    • Prior experience with integrating third-party SDKs, particularly for payment terminals, peripherals, or other POS hardware.

    Bonus Points

    • Experience with other mobile development frameworks such as Flutter or React Native
    • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications.
    • Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and UI testing frameworks on Android.
    • Contributions to open-source projects or a strong portfolio of personal projects.

    Product Manager, Remittance

    About the job

    • This role will be responsible for driving product strategy, market execution, customer experience, partner integrations, and operational efficiency for cross border payment and remittance services

    Product Strategy & Design

    • Define and evolve the vision and roadmap for remittance features tailored to intra-Africa and Diaspora -to- Africa corridors.
    • Translate customer problems into scalable product solutions with high availability, low latency, and transparency.
    • Continuously assess market trends, competitor landscape, customer needs, and regulatory dynamics to evolve the product.
    • Define Product Strategy and Growth path

    Product Development & Delivery

    • Translate product strategy into actionable requirements and work closely with Engineering, Design, Operations, Compliance, and other teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
    • Drive seamless integration of payout partners (wallets, bank accounts, cash pick-up, bill payments) in existing and new corridors.
    • Prioritize feature backlog and lead Agile ceremonies for the product.

    Growth & Performance

    • Define and track key product metrics (KPIs) acquisition, retention, revenue, transaction success rates, turnaround time.
    • Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, and Business Development teams to drive customer adoption and market penetration
    • Work closely with internal payments infrastructure, risk, and compliance teams to ensure operational excellence.

    Operations & Treasury Integration

    • Partner with treasury and finance teams to design seamless liquidity management and FX conversion flows.
    • Understand and help define Operational Value Stream
    • Build tools and workflows that support reconciliation, dispute resolution, and regulatory reporting.

    Compliance & Risk

    • Ensure full compliance to regulations in all corridors of operations
    • Interface with internal risk teams to monitor velocity rules, fraud signals, chargeback trends, and transaction thresholds.
    • Embed regulatory flexibility to support corridor-by-corridor compliance (e.g., BN in Nigeria, FCA in the UK, etc.).

    Partnerships & Pay-out Infrastructure

    • Collaborate with banking partners, mobile money operators, and pay-out aggregators across key corridors.
    • Work with engineering to integrate APIs for cash pickup, mobile wallet disbursement, or direct- to-bank transfers.
    • Co-design SLAs, fallback protocols, and alerting mechanisms to guarantee high delivery success rates.

    Stakeholder Management

    • Act as primary product lead in cross-functional forums with Compliance, Risk, Finance, Operations, Engineering, Marketing.
    • Maintain strong relationships with third-party partners and regulators as required.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/ Computer/System/ Electrical/ Electronic Engineering/ Computer Science or a related STEM discipline
    • Certified Product Manager and/or Owner certification
    • Scaled Agile Framework
    • 5+ years’ experience building and/or operating remittance, cross-border payments, or treasury platforms.
    • Deep understanding of fund flow, settlement, reconciliation, and FX mechanics in financial services.
    • Prior experience working with treasury ops, compliance teams, and banking partners.
    • Ability to write detailed product specs and process flows— especially around failure handling, retries, refunds, or reversals.
    • Excellent communicator who can bridge the gap between engineering, finance, risk, and customer-facing teams.
    • Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing remittances in key African and diaspora corridors.
