    PHE Teacher / Instructor

    Job Summary

    • The school PHE Teacher will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive Physical and Health Education program to students. The role encompasses teaching physical fitness, sports, and health-related topics, fostering a love for physical activity, and promoting overall well-being.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Curriculum Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive PHE curriculum that aligns with educational standards and grade-level objectives.
    • Physical Education Instruction: Deliver engaging and age-appropriate physical education classes, including exercises, sports, and games.
    • Health Education: Teach students about the principles of a healthy lifestyle, nutrition, personal hygiene, and safety practices.
    • Student Assessment: Evaluate and assess students' progress in physical fitness and health education, maintaining accurate records.
    • Equipment Management: Manage sports equipment and facilities, ensuring their proper maintenance, organization, and safety.
    • Safety Protocols: Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure the well-being of students during PHE classes and activities.
    • Extracurricular Activities: Organize and oversee extracurricular sports teams, clubs, or intramural competitions.
    • Individualized Support: Provide additional support and guidance to students with special needs or those requiring extra help in physical education.
    • Parent Communication: Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns related to PHE.
    • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to stay updated on teaching methodologies and educational trends.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

    • Student Engagement: Evaluate student participation and enthusiasm during PHE classes.
    • Physical Fitness Improvement: Measure students' physical fitness progress over the academic year.
    • Health Knowledge: Assess students' understanding of health-related topics.
    • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety guidelines during PHE classes and activities.
    • Curriculum Alignment: Review the alignment of the PHE curriculum with educational standards.
    • Professional Development: Track participation in relevant professional development opportunities.
    • Parental Feedback: Collect feedback from parents and guardians on their satisfaction with PHE instruction and communication.
    • Extracurricular Success: Monitor the performance and involvement of students in extracurricular sports and activities.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field from an ''A'' list higher institution of learning.
    • Teaching certification or licensure, depending on local requirements.
    • Knowledge of age-appropriate physical fitness and health education.
    • CPR and First Aid certification (recommended).

    • The Grade 2, 5, & 6 Assistant Teacher is responsible for creating a positive and engaging learning environment for students in their respective levels.
    • He/she must deliver effective instruction, foster student development, and collaborate with colleagues and parents to support student success.

    Job Description

    • Teach assigned subjects to pupils according to curriculum plan.
    • Coordinate with other grade teachers to maintain consistency in the curriculum.
    • Develop lesson plans and instructional ideas according to school standards.
    • Motivate students to participate in various educational activities.
    • Develop creative learning opportunities for student’s education, social and behavioral growth.
    • Interact with parents to inform them about their children’s academic progress.
    • Create a positive, structured, learning, and safe environment for students.
    • Develop and maintain student behavioral and discipline policies.
    • Coordinate with other staff to evaluate and enhance curricular programmes for student academic excellence.

    • Parent and Guardian Communication: Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.

    • Collaboration: Collaborate with other grade-level teachers, staff, and administrators to enhance the educational experience and address student needs.

    • Innovative Teaching: Assess the incorporation of innovative teaching methods and technology into the classroom. KPI: Integration of technology and innovative practices.
    • Classroom Environment: Evaluate the organization and aesthetics of the classroom as a conducive learning space. KPI: Classroom environment assessment scores.

    Requirements

    • Interested candidates should possess a BEd, PGCE or PGDE in relevant fields with 0 - 7 years work experience.
