    Senior Tax Officer

    Job Reference: STO2026024

    Job Summary

    • The Senior Tax Officer is responsible for managing the company’s tax compliance and reporting obligations, ensuring accurate and timely filing of tax returns, maintaining proper tax records, and ensuring full compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
    • The role also involves coordinating tax audits, liaising with regulatory authorities, and advising management on tax matters.

    Key Responsibilities
    Tax Compliance and Filing:

    • Ensure accurate and timely filing of all tax returns including Corporate Income Tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), Withholding Tax (WHT), PAYE, and other statutory taxes.
    • Ensure timely submission and payment of all tax obligations to the relevant authorities.
    • Review tax computations and supporting schedules before submission.
    • Maintain up-to-date records of all tax filings, payments, and supporting documentation.

    Tax Review and Reconciliation:

    • Review supplier invoices and payments to ensure proper withholding tax and VAT treatment.
    • Reconcile VAT input and output accounts periodically.
    • Reconcile all tax-related accounts in the general ledger and ensure accuracy.

    Tax Audit and Regulatory Liaison:

    • Prepare and coordinate responses to tax audits, reviews, and queries from tax authorities.
    • Liaise with tax consultants and external auditors during tax reviews, audits, or disputes.
    • Represent the company in meetings or discussions with regulatory bodies on tax-related matters.

    Reporting and Analysis:

    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reports for management.
    • Ensure all supporting documentation for tax filings is properly maintained and compliant with regulatory requirements.

    Regulatory Compliance:

    • Monitor changes in tax laws, regulations, and practices and advise management on potential impacts.
    • Ensure the company complies with all relevant tax laws, policies, and statutory deadlines.

    Stakeholder Management:

    • Maintain professional relationships with tax authorities, consultants, and external auditors.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager or management.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline.
    • Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or CITN is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 6–8 years of relevant tax experience in a corporate environment.
    • Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, regulations, and statutory requirements.
    • Proficiency in accounting software/ERP systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Invoicing Officer

    Job Summary

    • The Experienced Invoicing Officer is responsible for managing the company’s invoicing and billing processes to ensure that all invoices are prepared accurately and issued in a timely manner.
    • The role also involves maintaining proper billing records, verifying transaction details, monitoring stock returns and product expiry, and supporting financial reporting while ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare and process invoices accurately based on approved sales orders.
    • Verify billing details, including item prices, quantities, discounts, and applicable taxes, to ensure accuracy.
    • Ensure invoices are properly formatted and include all required customer and transaction details.
    • Enter and update invoice data in the company’s accounting software/ERP system.
    • Post and process goods returns from customers (defective or excess orders) using the company’s ERP system.
    • Conduct daily verification and posting of product returns in the accounting system.
    • Monitor product expiry dates both physically and within the ERP system and report any discrepancies.
    • Maintain accurate and organized records of all issued invoices, billing adjustments, and related documentation in compliance with company policies.
    • Identify, investigate, and resolve billing discrepancies such as incorrect pricing, quantities, or missing information in collaboration with the sales team.
    • Assist in internal and external audits by providing the required billing records and supporting documentation.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in invoicing, billing, or accounting roles, preferably within the FMCG industry.
    • Proficiency in ERP systems and accounting software, as well as Microsoft Excel.
    • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
    • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
