    Senior DevOps Engineer

    Category: Technology

    About the Role

    • We are looking for a DevOps Engineer who understands the DevOps culture and practices; and can be a champion for this within the organization.
    • The DevOps Engineer believes that building great software is more than just delivering working code, that other aspects such as reusability, test ability, maintainability, security, and performance are just as important.
    • The ideal candidate can think long-term incremental evolution, in sync with the industry practices and innovation.

    Responsibilities
    What you'll be doing everyday:

    • Manage internal infrastructure
    • Promote infrastructure best practices like security, release management, monitoring
    • Design infrastructure that is resilient, secure and highly available
    • Facilitate the building and releasing of features by the Technology team
    • Take part in building a secure and highly available platform
    • Automate common operations on critical systems in a safe and reliable manner
    • Build tools and processes that increase the productivity of the Technology team and ensure an efficient release pipeline
    • Support and collaborate with other Developers building on top of the platform
    • Share responsibility for strategically scaling Sparkle’s internal systems
    • Bring vision to the team in the form of new technology recommendations, ideas and approaches

    Requirements
    Do apply if you have:

    • You have at least 5 years of software development / DevOps experience
    • You have a solid foundation in Linux administration and troubleshooting
    • You have experience with system scripting languages like Bash, Python or Golang
    • You have experience with Docker and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes, ECS, Docker Swarm
    • You are deeply familiar with concepts like DevOps and Continuous Delivery
    • You have experience with working with tools like Terraforms, Ansible, Chef, Puppet
    • You have experience with at least one major cloud provider
    • You have strong understanding of computer science principles
    • You have experience working in an agile environment (standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, etc)
    • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • You have experience with system automation
    • You have experience with distributed systems

    Head of Engineering

    About the Role

    • We are looking for an extremely talented individual who will lead the evolution of our product and technology strategy, along with build a growing team of software engineers.
    • The ideal candidate has prior experience in a senior technical leadership capacity and has deep expertise in building and shipping products as well as able to manage engineering teams.
    • Our company is growing at a very fast space and as such we are looking for someone with experience in sourcing and hiring engineers as well as the ability to structure engineering teams.
    • This role requires someone who has deep knowledge of application lifecycles, databases and services and able to introduce processes and systems to help scale our technology infrastructure.

    Responsibilities
    What you get to do everyday:
    Product Development:

    • Owns all initiatives to develop and scale Sparkle’s products and features.
    • Defining a technology road map with organisation & business goals envisioning the tech stack required to scale the business with a long-term technology vision.
    • Responsible for managing Sparkle’s product back-end, front-end, infrastructure, architecture and scalability
    • Work closely with the business and engineering teams on issues related to design and requirements
    • Help development team to build high quality products. Make all developers aware what are the quality standards in organization, what value they bring in and encourage them to make the standards even better
    • Understanding business needs for defining engineering and product building requirements
    • Provides inputs, estimates and plans for product and feature development
    • Setting and managing expectations for feature and product development
    • Monitoring and supporting apps and handle issues that get escalated.
    • Be ready to get your hands dirty with actual coding as and when needed, we expect you to spend 40% time doing hands on technical work and test 60% on management activities.

    Process Management:

    • Establish and stimulate software development standards and processes along with best practices for delivery of scalable and high-quality software.
    • Develop deep and strong understanding the technologies, tools and techniques used within the team
    • Championing best software engineering practices like design, code reviews etc.

    People Management:

    • Being a technical mentor - Manage and review the technical contribution of engineers.
    • Leading and building engineering teams which comprises of back-end, front-end, mobile and DevOps engineers.
    • Work closely with the People & Culture team in hiring engineers including preparing job descriptions, identifying skillsets, developing hiring tests and participating in  interviews
    • Setting up short bursts of hackathons with the team to accelerate ideas to the experimentation stage.

    About You
    Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree / Nano Degree or certification in Computer Science / Software Engineering. 

    Experience:

    • 10 to 15 years cumulative experience developing high-scalable software products in PHP7/8. This role also requires at least 5 years of experience managing engineering teams.
    • Must have a background in working in the finance and banking industry with solid industry knowledge. 

    Engineering Skills Required:

    • Must have previously worked as a software engineer at a senior level.
    • Proficient in Laravel or Symfony and have a deep understanding of the basics
    • Ability to write well-structured, efficient, and maintainable code and actively keep the quality of the codebase in check
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills  

    People Management Skills:

    • You feel comfortable with managing complex engineering teams and have worked in a leadership role in a fast-paced start-up
    • Must have a lot of experience managing or mentoring the performance and development of high-performing engineers
    • Must know what good looks like for a high-performing team of engineers and know-how to get there
    • Has experience hiring excellent engineers
    • Must have an empathetic leadership style and able to build strong and effective relationship with the team.

    Product Manager (Associate)

    About the Role

    • We are currently looking to build out our Product team to support the development and management of new and innovative products including our very own chatbot Indy.
    • This is an exciting role and you will have the opportunity to make a real impact to our product roadmap and strategy.
    • You’ll work closely with our Senior Technical Product Manager in driving the evolution of our products and features and enabling new ways to provide value to our customers. 
    • You’d need to be highly analytical, have a good understanding of product management frameworks and must be hungry for new challenges.
    • Right away, you’d be working on different tasks and problems including identifying new product opportunities, creating product metrics, conducting user research and building design flows with our technology team. 

    Responsibilities
    A day in the life of a Junior PM looks like this:

    • Coordination: You will be involved in all phases of the product life cycle, from planning to release. You will work with the Senior Technical PM with keeping track of deadlines and making sure everything is running smoothly between the other teams (design, technology, QA, Developers), and with the rest of the stakeholders (management, business development, customer experience, marketing, etc.).  
    • Research & Market Intelligence: You will take part in gathering data on the competitor landscape, our users and staying up to date on banking and finance trends in the technology space. 
    • Data Analytics: You will perform recurrent analysis on the usage of the product and extract key insights for the improvement of the product. You’ll also be responsible for analysing important customer data points as well as information about our competitors.  
    • Reporting: You’ll be required to present key findings on various product success KPIs including findings on defects, improvements, status updates and risk management. 
    • Documentation: You will document user stories and use cases for new features or enhancements in the product. You will also support the documentation of product release notes for both internal and external communication. 
    • Information Hub: To perform well in this role, you’d need be a sponge; soaking up bits of information about our core business, products and features. You’d need to act as a source of all things related to our products and our business to be able to provide information when and where needed across multifunctional teams to help them make key decisions that may impact overall product and business goals.  

    Requirements
    Do Apply If:

    • You have zero to two years’ experience in product management or in a similar role around software development and information technology. No product management experience is required however, we’d ideally want someone who had taken a previous course understanding Product/Project/QA/ Risk Assessment/Agile and/or Software Development methodologies. 
    • You are a driven, ambitious individual who’s excited about working in Product Management and looking to build their career at an exciting very-fast-growing banking startup. 
    • You’re highly research oriented and able to collect and analyse user feedback and useful product data.
    • You have strong attention to detail and can deliver effectively against tight deadlines. 
    • You’re friendly and able to work well with others: This role is highly collaborative, and we’d prefer someone who is able to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. 
    • You’re great at using Product & Project Management Tools including any of the following: Trello, Clubhouse(now shortcut), Asana, ClickUp, Jira, Aha!, Microsoft Planner, Whiteboard and/or Kanban Boards. 
    • You’re familiar with any of these design tools including Figma, Invision, Sketch & Adobe XD to conduct reviews and give constructive feedback to the design team. 
    • You’ve been told you’re a highly creative person and have the ability to solve complex problems.

    Graphic Designer & Illustrator

    About the Role

    • As our resident visual designer, your job is to help us to convey messages and information through illustrations, graphics, and patterns.
    • You will be designing aesthetically pleasing graphics and illustrations that capture our brand and engage our customers. You’ll join our design team, but you’ll also be working closely with other departments including our marketing, people & culture and product teams.
    • With Sparkle being a new challenger bank, you’ll have a fresh brand to play with. We are looking for someone with the appetite for new ideas, a creative flair and a strong ability to translate requirements into design.
    • If you can communicate well and can collaborate methodically as part of a team, we’d like to meet you.

    Responsibilities
    What you get to do everyday:

    • Collaboration: You’ll work in the design team but will be required to collaborate with other teams to understand design requirements, preferences and expectations in line with our brand design language. You will also be using feedback from other team members to improve on your designs such as the colour schemes and tone.
    • Designing: This is a no-brainer. You’ll spend a lot of your time actually designing original graphics with unique colours, shapes and typography considering its usage across multiple channels and devices, web, mobile and print. You’ll be designing original graphics with unique colours, shapes, and typography fonts. Your designs will include but not limited to marketing and comms materials, social media posters, banners, flyers, illustrations, interfaces, logos and a lot more.
    • Research: We are a digital bank so you’ll need to spend time understanding the finance space and gaining knowledge about available technologies, user interactions, current design trends and design best practices.

    Requirements
    Do Apply If:

    • You have some experience in design: Ideally, you should have 1-2 years of experience in visual design for multiple channels. You should be proficient using design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign etc.) Experience using Affinty design, Adobe After Effects and Figma are a plus.
    • You love collaborating with people: If you’re a standout colleague who loves working with cross-functional teams, then this role is for you.
    • You have a fairly good understanding of visual design standards, typography, iconography and colours.
