Retail Manager at Scalein

Job Description

• Develop and execute a creative and inspiring merchandising layout for the store
• Create a unique retail experience in the store, following ALARA brand guidelines
• Work with the management team to set annual budgets and targets
• Take full responsibility for managing the budget, profit and loss account, as well as monitoring performance against agreed key performance indicators (KPI’s)
• Develop and maintain suitable measures and systems for ensuring sufficient levels of stock at all times
• Analyse sales figures, interpret trends and forecast future sales volumes in order to grow profit
• Partner with the management team to identify potential income generation opportunities
• Ensure that business development activities are complementary and all potential income-generating activities are exploited
• Work with the sales team to develop limited edition commissions and multiples from exhibiting artists
• Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures through retail management and staff meetings, store walk-throughs and audits, etc.
• Continually evaluate and react to performance issues and actively recruit retail candidates
• Provide support to the fashion buyer, the home/furniture buyer, the general manager, as well as the CEO in identifying brands to be featured in the store portfolio
• Monitor low-performing brands and suggest methods to drive a quick and sustained, and effective turnaround in performance
• Effectively resolve all customer complaints
• Plan and oversee in-store promotional events or displays
• Keep abreast of market trends to determine the need for improvements in the store
• Ensure the store fulfils all legal, health and safety guidelines
• Perform any other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

Technical Skills

• Working knowledge of the fashion/retail industry
• Good knowledge of the use of sales software
• Good data entry skills
• Knowledge and understanding of business policies and procedures
• Ability to create detailed spreadsheets, charts, and presentations
• Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools
• Must be able to prepare management reports and correspondence.

Educational/Experience

• BSc. / HND in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field
• Experience in the luxury lifestyle industry (an advantage)
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Retail Manager
• Professional certification will be an advantage.
