    Proposal Development Assistant

    Description

    • The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigeria Nationals for the position below at the Institute’s headquarter in Ibadan.

    DUTIES:

    • Provide support to staff and proposal teams in completing proposal summary forms.
    • Assign projects to the appropriate science areas on summary forms, in consultation with the Proposal Team Lead.
    • Review proposal summary forms against corresponding agreements to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment of information, escalating discrepancies for clarification and resolution.
    • Conduct daily searches to identify and analyse funding opportunities aligned with IITA’s strategy.
    • Provide guidance to staff on navigating the proposal automation system.
    • Contribute to the preparation of comprehensive weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on funding call searches and publications.
    • Track and compile compliance monitoring reports from the Proposal Call Automation System for submission to the Senior Management Team.
    • Support staff in developing proposal budgets.
    • Ensure compliance with internal standards and donor guidelines during the proposal development phase.
    • Assist in completing relevant administrative information as required by funding call guidelines.
    • Retrieve proposal and project-related information from the project database as needed.
    • Assist in maintaining the unit’s intranet platform, including uploading and updating relevant policy documents, workflows, templates, checklists, manuals, and related resources.
    • Support the creation and updating of content on the unit’s activities for social media platforms.
    • Collaborate with team members to develop training modules, provide guidance, and deliver capacity-building sessions for IITA colleagues and partners.
    • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by supervisors.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATION:                     

    • BSC/HND Business Administration, Project Management, Public Administration Agriculture, or related courses with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.

    COMPETENCIES:

    The ideal candidate must:

    • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Be proficient in the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
    • Be familiar with donor guidelines, grants, and the proposal development process.
    • Possess strong organizational skills.
    • Have the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

    Project Coordinator

    Duties

    • Consult with the TDGG principal investigator and project lead, and undertake the day-to-day running of dairy genetics gains activities in Nigeria.
    • Assist the TDGG Pl to ensure the effective and flexible coordination and implementation of TDGG activities in Nigeria.
    • Undertake high-level pitching and coordination of related national dairy cattle identification, performance recording, and genetic evaluation initiatives, in consultation with the ILRI Country Representative.
    • Provide training, mentorship and supervision /support to the program Site Coordinators (SCs).
    • Coordinate and undertake joint initiatives with TDGG and relevant public-private actors to support breeding service delivery (i.e. Artificial Insemination).
    • Deliver program activities in the country in close collaboration with key actors in dairy-sector development, particularly the Federal Ministry of Livestock and the State and Regional Directorates, to ensure strong and effective linkages between TDGG and major dairy industry stakeholders. With the full knowledge of the Program’s Principal Investigator (PI), TDGG’s program lead, and Country PI, maintain regular and effective communication between the TDGG – The country partner teams and the ILRI project team to ensure the quality and timeliness of project deliverables.
    • Observe the project schedules and timescales, liaise with the country Pl and ILRI to ensure project documents (financial, technical and meeting reports, and feedback) are prepared in accordance with the agreed schedules and within timescales.
    • Coordinate and prepare timely and quality documentation/implementation reports to be submitted to ILRI, including contributing to the packaging of feedback to farmers. Support development and implementation of the agreed work plans and maintain records on technical and financial aspects of project operation, including project activities and their outcomes, as well as minutes, decisions and recommendations from meetings and workshops.
    • Ensure that all partners, beneficiaries, and stakeholders are appropriately and timely informed and involved in the program activities.
    • Provide links to all existing and potential stakeholders/collaborators by being proactive, responsive, and effectively dealing with program-related concerns/issues.
    • Ensure effective dissemination of knowledge and insights gained, learnings as well as tools and methodologies to program stakeholders and the broader audience.
    • Identify potential related activities to which the planned program activities would be synergistic and communicate/share with the Program Management Team (PMT) for further action.

    Requirements
    Qualifications:

    • MSc in the Agricultural field (animal breeding or animal production), Science in animal production or Veterinary Medicine with a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.

    Competencies:
    The ideal candidate must:

    • Possess experience in managing and or supporting commercial livestock business.
    • Execute the design and evidence-led implementation of dairy businesses.
    • Manage the delivery of improved livestock seed systems in Nigeria and the Western Africa region.
    • Demonstrate Good judgement, adaptability and willingness to take initiative when appropriate.
    • Maintain excellent interpersonal communication abilities and strong personal organisation skills.
    • Develop Experience in drafting and managing work plans, results-based budgets and systems to monitor and report progress.
    • Utilize GitHub or other version control systems.

    Research Associate - Data Systems

    Duties

    • Contribute to livestock genetic data management systems (collation, processing and storage) and tools for use in the AADGG project.
    • Support and develop existing tools and systems used for data capture.
    • Respond to ICT support requests from field agents in a timely manner.
    • Write procedures and software to import/ export data from/to appropriate database systems and share these for further analyses and interpretation.
    • Implement and monitor Quality Assurance (QA) protocols and routines, including safe and remote back-up of database systems and tools.
    • Keep up to date with the latest tools and resources, including open-source software, for the collection, management, storage and sharing of information.
    • Ensure the confidentiality and security of information collected and all relevant data management systems.

    Requirements
    Qualifications:

    • BSc / HND in Information Systems, Database Management, Computer Science, or any other related courses with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.

    Competencies:
    The ideal candidate must:

    • Possess experience in writing and maintaining Android applications.
    • Demonstrate a high level of computer literacy, with proficiency in essential office software and digital tools.
    • Showcase experience of ODK/ONA
    • Utilize GitHub or other version control system.
    • Exhibit excellent interpersonal communication and good personal organization skills.
    • Have master experience in writing and maintaining API endpoints (Symphony framework).
