    Program Officer

    Locations: Mubi and Adamawa - Yola

    Job Summary

    • The American University of Nigeria, Yola, is seeking for Program Officers. This position is a local position and opens to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria.

    Position Background

    • Program Officer will monitor and report on all project activities in support of the project. H/she will also provide assistance to the targeted beneficiaries.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Support implementation of the programs within the scope of the project.
    • Involve in community mobilization, targeting, and tracking target beneficiaries.
    • Conduct regular field visits to beneficiary communities and update project activities in the field.
    • Attend stakeholders meetings with partners and stakeholders in the field.
    • Support in periodic monitoring and observation of project communities and timely report any foreseen conflict at an early stage.
    • Any other duties may be assigned by the Project Director.

    Position Requirements

    • Degree in Conflict Resolution, Project Management, or other related fields.
    • At least a minimum of 2 years of experience in conflict-focused projects.
    • Good level of computer literacy (primarily in Microsoft Office packages).
    • Fluent in local languages and English.

    Finance Officer

    Location: Yola, Adamawa
    Department: Finance & Admin

    Job Summary

    • The American University of Nigeria, Yola, is seeking for a Finance Officer. This position is a local position and opens to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria.

    Position Background

    • The Finance Officer will manage project financial processes and procedures. H/she will be responsible for the management of cash and cash transactions for the Project and liaising with the bank on general financial transactions of the Project.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Managing petty cash transactions;
    • Disbursing of funds to all participants during workshops;
    • Handling of cash payments to all vendors/Staff
    • Preparation of petty cash update and reports;
    • Weekly cash reconciliation and replenishment;
    • Scanning and filing financial documents into a database and maintaining hard copies filling;
    • Review of payment documents in relation to payment checklist;
    • Keep petty cash funds safe and provide periodic petty cash reports.
    • Raising of Payment Vouchers/Petty Cash Vouchers
    • Carry out routine day to day finance duties
    • Any other duty may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Position Requirements

    • B.Sc in Accounting / Banking and Finance with 3 years of project experience
    • Finance and Grant management experience on INGO projects
    • Experience in the use of financial accounting software
    • Experience in project finance, audit, and project banking
    • Knowledge of USAID and other Donor agencies financial regulations and ICT skills.

    Office Assistant

    Location: Mubi, Adamawa
    Department: Finance / Admin.
    Employment Status: Full Time (Project)

    Job Summary

    • This position is a local position and opens to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria.

    Position Background

    • The Office Assistant will Provide general administrative and clerical support to the project during training and workshops. He will also provide logistical support by arranging program logistics needs.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Support in the coordination of office management, activities, and programs in the project office.
    • Carry out the filing of relevant materials and project documents.
    • Provide administrative support to program teams based in the project communities.
    • Tracking and ensuring participants in training events sign attendance. 
    • Conducting and reporting pre-training venue inspections and work with hotel staff to prepare venues as required.
    • Coordinate transport of training equipment and materials to venues ready for use.
    • Tracking project pending actions, including following up/reminding concerned staff.
    • Update project operations files and staff contact list. 
    • Providing logistics and other support to program implementation
    • Any other duty as may be required from time to time by the supervisor.

    Position Requirements

    • Degree in Social, Business Management, Public Administration, or equivalents.
    • Minimum 2 years relevant work experience with an NGO.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

    Conflict Resolution Specialist

    Location: Mubi, Adamawa

    Job Summary

    • This position is a local position and opens to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria.

    Position Background

    • The Conflict Resolution Specialist will lead in creating a mechanism where issues involving conflict can be addressed through means of conflict resolution.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Coordinate and schedule conflict resolution sessions with beneficiaries and oversee various aspects of conflict resolution.
    • Conduct resolution/management training to Supervisors and Program teams in order to increase their awareness and knowledge of conflict management programming.
    • Conduct conflict consultations with various stakeholders to determine which are appropriate for effective conflict management and resolution.
    • Produce brochures and other materials on conflict resolution as per approved guidelines.
    • Conduct data collection on internal disputes between target beneficiaries and submit the period report to the Project Director.
    • Any other duties may be assigned by the Project Director.

    Position Requirements

    • Master’s Degree or B.Sc in Conflict Resolution, Development Studies, Economics, Management, or related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years mediation work experience
    • Excellent People Management skills.
    • Proven experience delivering conflict programs in the North East.
    • High level of computer literacy (primarily in Microsoft Office packages).
    • Fluent in Local Hausa languages and English.
    • High level of report writing skills (Desirable).
    • Previous knowledge of INGO experience (Preferable)

    Project Director

    Job Summary

    • This position is a local position and opens to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria.

    Position Background

    • The Project Director will lead on the design and implementation of the project and explore, analyze, recommend, design, and oversee implementation of conflict management components of the project.
    • S/he will develop an approach to ensuring collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Lead on the delivery of the project design that is tailored to the beneficiaries as per British Council guidelines.
    • Identify and lead peace-building and conflict mitigation activities.
    • Identify and understand the positive and negative values of conflict and manage its impact on team performance and project success.
    • Provide support for vulnerable youths to get access to the project’s programs.
    • Manage Finances and also the technical and administrative staff of the Project.
    • Work with the relevant government agencies to ensure alignment with their priorities, as well as to reach out to the beneficiary communities.
    • Conduct periodic monitoring visits to communities and interface with the target beneficiaries.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Administrator of Grants and Contracts.

    Position Requirements

    • Master’s Degree in Conflict Resolution, Development Studies, Economics, Management, or related field.
    • At least 4-7 years of experience in managing conflict-related projects or similar projects.
    • Excellent people management skills.
    • Proven experience delivering conflict management programs in the North East.
    • High level of computer literacy (primarily in Microsoft Office packages).
    • Fluent in Local Hausa languages and English.
    • High level of report writing skills (Desirable).
    • Previous knowledge of INGO experience (Preferable)

    Youth Engagement Assistant

    Job Summary

    • This position is a local position and opens to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria.

     Position Background

    • The Youth Engagement Assistant will support the development and leading of youth activities. The intent of this position is to represent the voice and needs of beneficiary youths.
    • H/she will support for young people to facilitate their involvement in the planning and development of a system of care model, and to promote positive youth leadership.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • In collaboration with the project team, support the program team to determine the most appropriate route for advisory recruitment including identification of potential beneficiary youth.
    • Support in ensuring youth-driven activities occurs to increase engagement in the system of care development.
    • Ensure consistent, close relationships with other youth-serving community agencies and organizations.
    • Attend local project meetings and training, as needed, to promote the Circles of Care program.
    • Assist in the preparation, maintenance, and acquisition of relevant documentation, files, and records, ensuring rigorous protection of beneficiary information.
    • Assist in the development and distribution of educational and informational materials to increase the awareness of the beneficiary youths and host community.
    • Any other duty as may be required from time to time by the Project Director.

    Position Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Conflict Management, Social Sciences, Public or Business Administration, or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 2-3 years experience in conflict and community engagement programs.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Previous work experience with an INGO is a plus.
    • Computer skills, especially office packages and outlook. 
    • Written and oral proficiency in English and local Hausa Language (required).
