    Program Assistant

    Duty Description
    The Program Assistant will play a central role in coordinating, supervising, and supporting LPF'shumanitarian field activities in Gusau LGA. Under the guidance of the Project Officer/Head of Programs, the role holder will:

    • Supervise and guide field Volunteers.
    • Support implementation of WASH, nutrition, health, and learning support activities in IDP camps and host communities.
    • Ensure accurate, timely field reporting and documentation.
    • Coordinate with stakeholders, camp officials, community leaders, and sector actors to ensure effective delivery of services.
    • Contribute to behaviour change in hygiene, sanitation, safe water use, and nutrition practices.

    Roles and Responsibilities
    Supervision & Coordination:

    • Directly supervise and provide daily guidance to field Volunteers
    • Plan and allocate weekly tasks to Field Volunteers, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
    • Track volunteer attendance, performance, and reporting consistency.
    • Conduct routine field visits to monitor activity quality and ensure adherence to LPF standards.

    Activity Implementation Support:

    • Support daily monitoring of WASH, nutrition, health, and education interventions.
    • Coordinate hygiene promotion activities and ensure alignment with community needs.
    • Support monitoring of learning activities within camps and communities.

    Reporting & Documentation:

    • Compile daily, weekly, and monthly activity reports from Field Volunteers.
    • Produce consolidated reports for the Project Officer.
    • Support volunteers in data collection for donor reporting and proposal development.
    • Maintain updated documentation of meetings, trainings, and field activities.

    Community Engagement & Stakeholder Coordination:

    • Liaise with camp officials, community leaders, and local actors to ensure smooth implementation.
    • Represent CLPF in field-level coordination meetings (WASH, Nutrition, Education).
    • Support community mobilization efforts in collaboration with volunteers and stakeholders.
    • Promote integration of gender, disability inclusion, protection mainstreaming, and accountability to affected populations (AAP).

    Compliance & Safeguarding:

    • Ensure Field Volunteers comply with LPF’s policies, including:
    • Child Safeguarding:
    • Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse & Harassment (PSEAH)
    • Code of Conduct:
    • Report any safeguarding or protection concerns immediately following LPF reporting procedures.
    • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Non discrimination
    • Support procurement and logistics arrangements for field activities when required.
    • Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Project Officer that align with the role.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • SSCE holders and Post SSCE Certificate, NCE, National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Community Development, Education, Nutrition, or related field.
    • 2years experience in humanitarian field operations (WASH, nutrition, health, education, or protection).
    • Experience supervising community volunteers.
    • Strong coordination, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work with women, children, and vulnerable groups.
    • Demonstrated understanding of gender, disability inclusion, AAP, and protection mainstreaming.
    • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to difficult field conditions.
    • Proficiency in Hausa and/or local languages of Zamfara State.

    Duty Description

    • Under the supervision of the Hygiene Promotion Assistant/ WASH supervisor, the successful candidate will conduct hygiene promotion sessions focusing on proper hand washing, safe excreta disposal, safe household water management, latrine usage and other key hygiene messages through House-to-House visits, Focus Group Discussions/community meetings, targeting community Leaderships/Local Champions (Community Leaders, Women Leaders, religious leaders, elders etc.) to promote good hygiene practices, discourage bad practices, and Risk Communication (RCCE).
    • Support WASH Committees in conducting disinfection campaigns, and collect demographic data on the guidance of the hygiene promotion assistant/WASH Supervisor.

    Job Description

    • Contribute to targeting beneficiaries, promoting effective use of latrines and safe water, following up on hygiene kits, and Supporting the WASH team during the Distribution of hygiene and summarization kits.
    • Conduct hygiene promotion messages through house-to-house Visiting, individual or group level; organize community meetings, and conduct mass mobilization events.
    • Conduct child-to-child hygiene promotion activities through dramas, songs, and other interactive methods by using IEC material, and Distribution and locating of IEC materials
    • Follow-up visits to ensure participation of all class of the population, especially vulnerable/disabled groups to ensure participation gaps are bridged between the Community and LPF.
    • Maintain a record of hygiene sessions and beneficiary records targeted through hygiene promotion activities on prescribed templates by LPF on a daily basis.
    • Conduct focus group discussions and update the WASH/Health Promotion (HP) Assistant and WASH/Health Promotion (HP) Officer on findings, challenges, and lessons learned at the field level.
    • Follow-up with the water management committee, latrine cleaning committee, women’s association (as per situation), child group, and other stakeholders to accomplish public health promotion objectives.
    • Carry out mass Public Health Promotion campaigns (environmental cleaning, jerrycan cleaning, vector control, NFI demonstration) whenever required.
    • Participate in the implementation of the mentioned activity with conformity to the agreed standards.
    • Ensure that the properties in the place of work are respected and no damage is caused to them.
    • Cooperate with Children, Women, and Men or staff around during their work in line with the LPF code of conduct or the humanitarian principles.
    • MUST not use the position of being engaged in LPF to work to gain favors or material advantage.
    • Sustain regular participation and decent behaviour towards beneficiaries or LPF staff as failure in this respect can automatically result in the termination of service.
    • Adhere to implementation standards, LPF ways of working, and the terms of the LPF Code of Conduct; including a commitment tozero tolerance on SEA and the obligation to report SEA cases.
    • Perform any other duties that the officer or assistant in charge may assign

    Experience, Skill and Qualification

    • Minimum 2 years for SSCE holders and Post SSCE Certificate, and 1 year for National Diploma (ND), NCE.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of the Local language and Proficiency in English is a huge advantage.
