    Police Duty Solicitor (Kano)

    Locations: Kawo community (Nassarawa LGA), Kofar Gabas community (Tofa LGA)& Sabon Gari community (Wudil LGA) - Kano

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide free legal advice and support to survivors of SGBV at police stations.
    • Represent clients during police questions, bail hearings, and other relevant legal procedures.
    • Facilitate referrals to courts, Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs), and other justice-related services.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all legal services and client interactions.
    • Collaborate with law enforcement officers, SARCs, and community response teams to improve survivor outcomes.
    • Participate in trainings related to SGBV, trauma-informed care, legal ethics, and community justice.
    • Prepare and submit timely reports and updates to the project team as required

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Barrister-at-Law (BL); must be called to the Nigerian Bar.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ post-call experience, preferably in criminal law, human rights law, or legal aid work.
    • Demonstrated experience working with survivors of SGBV or other vulnerable groups is a strong advantage.
    • Strong understanding of Nigerian legal and criminal justice systems, especially as they relate to gender justice.
    • Knowledge of English and Hausa
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

    Locations: Rigachikun (Igabi LGA), ⁠Iyan Juma (Zaria LGA) & ⁠Zonkwa (Zangon Kataf LGA) - Kaduna
