    Pastoralist Area Farmers Satisfaction Representative

    Job Purpose

    • To oversee and coordinate pastoralist engagement and satisfaction programs within assigned regions.
    • The AFSR bridges the gap between field representatives and central management by ensuring smooth implementation of livestock support, buy-back, and fodder distribution initiatives while maintaining strong relationships with pastoralist leaders and communities.

    Roles and Responsibilities
    Regional Coordination & Supervision:

    • Manage and supervise FSRs within assigned areas, providing guidance and performance oversight.
    • Plan and coordinate community outreach programs, trainings, and livestock mobilization activities.
    • Consolidate field reports and analyze trends in farmer satisfaction and livestock performance.

    Community & Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Build and maintain positive relationships with pastoralist leaders, local authorities, and partner organizations.
    • Organize periodic meetings to address pastoralist feedback, challenges, and partnership opportunities.

    Livestock & Feed Program Implementation:

    • Oversee buy-back operations and ensure animals meet quality and health standards.
    • Coordinate regional fodder/feed sales and distribution, ensuring availability and farmer access.
    • Monitor animal health, vaccination programs, and feed utilization across communities.

    Training & Capacity Building:

    • Facilitate training programs on animal husbandry, feeding, and disease management.
    • Mentor FSRs to deliver effective farmer education and engagement.

    Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting:

    • Maintain data on livestock procurement, fodder sales, farmer participation, and satisfaction levels.
    • Prepare and submit detailed monthly reports with recommendations to the Head, Pastoralist Market Development.

    Conflict & Risk Management:

    • Mediate community disputes related to livestock transactions, feed distribution, or contract issues.
    • Identify potential risks such as disease outbreaks or migration trends and report early warnings.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

    • Regional livestock volumes and quality standards met
    • Feed/fodder sales performance
    • Farmer satisfaction and retention rate
    • Effective supervision and performance of FSRs
    • Timeliness and quality of reports submitted.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Extension, or related disciplines
    • 4 - 6 years of experience in livestock or pastoralist engagement, with supervisory exposure
    • Fluency in Hausa and/or Fulfulde preferred
    • Experience in livestock feed distribution or rural community development.

    Forage Support / Extension Officer

    Job Summary

    • To provide frontline operational and technical support in forage (grass/feed) production, processing, and distribution.
    • The Forage Support Representative works closely with farmers and field teams to promote improved forage utilization, ensure quality handling of feed materials, and support sales and logistics activities within the assigned area.
    • The role helps bridge communication between the company, pastoralist farmers, and community stakeholders to enhance feed accessibility and livestock productivity.

    Roles and Responsibilities
    Field Operations Support:

    • Assist in land preparation, planting, irrigation, and harvesting of forage crops.
    • Participate in feed processing activities such as cutting, drying, baling, and packaging.
    • Support equipment operators in routine maintenance and safe handling of tools.
    • Ensure adherence to quality standards during forage handling and storage.

    Forage Distribution & Sales Assistance:

    • Help coordinate and execute delivery of forage to pastoralist farmers, agents, or field depots.
    • Record sales transactions, deliveries, and customer feedback in assigned areas.
    • Promote company forage and feed products to pastoralist and smallholder farmers.
    • Monitor and report stock levels at field depots or collection points.

    Farmer & Community Engagement:

    • Build rapport with local farmers and assist in organizing training and sensitization sessions on feed usage and conservation.
    • Provide farmers with basic information on feeding techniques and benefits of improved forage.
    • Gather feedback on feed performance and customer satisfaction.

    Monitoring & Reporting:

    • Record daily field activities including production progress, feed movement, and farmer interactions.
    • Report weather conditions, pest or disease occurrences, and field challenges to the Forage Officer.
    • Submit weekly summaries of field operations and sales performance.

    Quality & Safety Compliance:

    • Follow all safety protocols during field and processing operations.
    • Ensure clean and proper storage of forage materials to prevent spoilage or contamination.
    • Assist in enforcing compliance with company operational procedures.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

    • Volume of forage handled, processed, or distributed
    • Accuracy and timeliness of field data and reports
    • Customer (farmer) satisfaction and repeat purchase rate
    • Quality of forage maintained during handling and delivery
    • Compliance with safety and operational standards

    Qualifications and Experience

    • HND / B.Sc or equivalent in Agriculture, Animal Science, Crop Production, or related field
    • 1–2 years of experience in agricultural fieldwork, feed distribution, or livestock support (preferred but not mandatory)
    • Familiarity with rural or pastoralist communities is an advantage
    • Ability to communicate in Hausa and/or Fulfulde preferred

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Basic understanding of forage production and livestock feeding practices
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills
    • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
    • Record keeping and reporting ability
    • Physical fitness for fieldwork and outdoor operations
