Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and trustworthy Accountant to join our hotel team in Mbaise, Imo State. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing reports, monitoring cash flow, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The successful candidate must demonstrate accuracy, integrity, professionalism, and the ability to support business growth through effective financial management.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and maintaining accurate financial records and journal entries
- Reconciling bank statements and verifying account balances regularly
- Preparing monthly financial reports, cash flow reports, and audit documentation
- Monitoring daily income, expenses, and hotel operational costs
- Processing payroll and ensuring timely salary payments
- Managing accounts payable and receivable efficiently
- Calculating and remitting taxes in compliance with government regulations
- Assisting management with budgeting and financial forecasting
- Identifying financial risks and recommending corrective actions where necessary
- Ensuring confidentiality and proper filing of all financial documents
- Supporting the hotel management team with financial insights for decision-making
- Proactively identify financial discrepancies, operational inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities, and recommend corrective actions
- Anticipate financial reporting needs and ensure timely preparation of records and documentation
- Follow up proactively on outstanding receivables, payables, and compliance obligations
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 2 years proven experience in accounting, preferably within the hospitality or service industry
- Evidence of previous accounting responsibilities such as payroll management, financial reporting, bookkeeping, or tax documentation
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail
- Good communication and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
