    Legal Secretary

    Job Responsibilities

    • Edit and proofread all legal documents.
    • Maintain attorney calendar by scheduling conferences, depositions, and meetings.
    • Welcome clients and conduct initial screenings of new clients.
    • Organize all legal documents and ensure they are updated.
    • Ensure all court documents are in order and filed before deadlines.
    • Answer emails and phone calls, and when necessary, redirect calls.

    Job Skills / Requirements

    • Bachelor of Laws - LLB (Second Class Upper minimum)
    • 1-2 years post-call experience in a similar role.
    • In-depth knowledge of legal documents and terminology.
    • A typing speed of fifty words per minute (minimum) with high accuracy is required.
    • Skilled with MS Office.
    • Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Must be resident in Port Harcourt.

    Junior Lawyer

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Must have an advanced understanding of company operations, commercial transactions, research and litigation.
    • Conduct legal research and gather evidence.
    • Research and authenticate important case information.
    • Go to court proceedings, and offer assistance in case representations where necessary.
    • Ensure that appropriate approvals are in place before documents are executed.
    • Develop and lead corporate legal strategy to promote and protect the company's matters.
    • Develop and lead corporate compliance programs.
    • Protect the Firm’s interests by ensuring due diligence.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications / Experience

    • LL.B Degree from a reputable university (with a minimum of 2nd Class Upper).
    • Must be called to the Nigerian Bar.
    • 2 - 5 years post call experience in both corporate law and litigation, and must have worked for reputable firms in these fields.

    • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

    Senior Lawyer

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • To represent clients in court, draft and review court processes and legal documents, and manage or advise clients on legal matters.
    • Prepare different legal documents including motions, petitions and appeals.
    • Must have an advanced understanding of company operations, commercial transactions, research and litigation.
    • To make a substantial and positive contribution to the strategic direction of the firm.
    • Offer legal representation to clients in court proceedings on civil or criminal matters.
    • Manage and oversee paralegals and legal assistants.
    • Interpret laws, rulings and regulations for natural and juristic persons.
    • Explain the law and give legal advice.
    • Prepare pleadings, notices and make appearances in court.
    • Study Constitution, statutes, decisions, regulations, and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies to determine ramifications for cases.
    • Evaluate findings and develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact across to the board and management with confidence and authority.
    • Ability to deal with complex problems & ability in applying judgment and independent reasoning in situations where applicable precedence and laws may not exist.
    • Overseeing delivery of legal services and resources to accomplish corporate goals, strategies and priorities
    • Maintaining proper corporate interactions with the relevant local, state and federal governmental bodies, legislatures and the community at large.

    Qualifications / Experience
